  1. Lots of chatter in last hour that Ade deal is done!! Yes, I know - heard this before again and again, but there does seem to be some more reliable sources commenting.

Don't do this to me Relayer! :(

As others have said I'd rather hear nothing on the deal until it's done(if ever), these sources claiming "tomorrow or the day after latest" have been saying that for weeks.

Looks like Daws has gone to QPR for £10M. Not confirmed yet but too much smoke for there not to be any fire. We're getting a bit like the bloody goons selling our captain.

Sky sports now reporting that Spurs and Ade have come to an agreement. I'll believe it when it is on the OS. If I was on say £100,000 a year and the boss told me there's no work for me and put me on 2 years gardening leave, I don't think I'd go and look for a £50,000 a year job. Why the **** should he?

Sky Sports are saying £5.5M for Daws, doubt if he'll go anywhere for that.

  7. Know exactly what you mean mate, but there has been a spike of activity and even Sky Sports are running with it.
Apologies if raising false hopes .....

Must say, I don't agree with some of the criticisms I have read on here about Dawson's game, but if we have indeed managed to get £10m for him, then I would concede that is a good bit of business. Would have preferred to have seen Gallas depart as I personally feel he's past it, but at least we might see Caulker get an overdue opportunity.

A proper leader, and that's what Dawson is, is worth quite a lot. Add to that a PL defender and its worth more than £10m IMHO. I'd actually much rather he didn't go, there are few players these days that don't whinge, don't complain about being out of the team, don't cheat and generally seem like a good guy.

  13. I was talking about Ade, Roo - not Daws.
Sky Sports are talking about it though - but quoting only £5.5m to QPR

If we sell Dawson for £5.5 mill then QPR have seriously done us over, wouldn't be entirely happy with seeing him go for £10 mill to be honest. We need leaders with experience like Dawson in the squad. We should be letting Gallas go well before we even think about accepting bids for Dawson. If this goes through then it puts a serious downer on what has been a fairly good day in the transfer market so far.

Of course the BBC are only reporting a bid has gone through. Aside from the idea that he has s been told he is our 3rd choice this season (and how do they know this sort of thing anyway......) is there any real evidence that we even want to sell? We have a better 3rd choice centre back than most other teams in the PL. If Levy has any sense then he'll reject this offer out of hand.

I like Dawson but I guess the AVB doesn't.
He's a good leader at times and he does give his all in every game. However he's been out for a year ... he returned in Jan after 4 months out and only lasted 2 or 3 matches. That's a long time out for a player. Also he has not progressed as well as Kaboul who I think has developed into a far better player and he is liable to make mistakes so I guess they see it as good business as he ain't (understandably) the type of player willing to be on the bench al the time.
If he goes I hope he does really well.
I hope Bassong gets his career back on track...I have no idea how he went so far off his form and hope he regains his confidence at Norwich.

Tommy Huddlestone needs to go out on loan until Xmas to get back to match fitness. I think that as Bentley is in his final year of his contact that we should pay him off and be done with it. No one's going to buy him and he shouldn't get anywhere near the first team so shoudn't train with the squad.

Jenas is another one whose career has nosedived ... I was never as down on him as some ... I guess because of his scoring feats against arsenal until 2008/09...hope he finds a club cos I can't see him getting a game with us.

We need to get rid of Gomes - none of our defenders trust him and to be honest I'd get rid of Carlo if we could get a replacement.

I'd bring in Adam Johnson, Berbatov (yep, I know he left like a turd but needs must and he is very skillful and has a point to prove) and Adebayor.

If they could be tempted to sell him I'd go for the Everton Keeper - Howard - think he is very under rated.

I don't follow overseas football so I know sod all about who we could get from abroad.

Dawson is 29 in November, so not that old. Not sure how long left in his contract, but £5.5mil doesn't seem enough for a central defender who has played for England.

Why would we even want to sell Dawson? We've got him, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Caulker and Gallas which looks like the right amount to me. I'd keep them all at least until January before making a decision on whether we have too many.

I don't like the thought of forcing out players like Defoe and Huddlestone who have a good relationship with the fans and always work hard for the club. Dawson falls in that same catergory and also for me is first choice alongside Kaboul.

YV has a good point. Forcing out long-serving players will not only anger fans but the implications to squad morale have to be taken into account. These players are likely to have good friends within the squad.
Defoe, Hudd and Dawson are definite keepers for me. £5.5m is at least £5m too cheap.
