yeah, I would agree with that Dee, but his vision/pace has never been put into practice with a high line. The injury situation is bound to be an issue too. I hate to say it, but I agree. you're right mate, it's the right time and that is good money for a defender.
SERIOUSLY about Dawson? Who would be daft enough to work under Hughes and go to a team which has just been dicked 0-5?
i know TMT, but I can see it happening. to be honest, if I was MD and I was looking at the situation, I wouldn't feel confident about playing. - especially if we're supposed to be getting Fryers and Hall in too. Sky are now reporting that Hudd could well be going to stoke on loan. (Sky Sports understands Tottenham are ready to loan out Tom Huddlestone with Stoke the front-runners for his signature. Huddlestone, who missed most of last season through injury, has been informed he will be allowed to go out on loan to get some regular first-team football under his belt. The England international underwent two ankle operations last season with his last game for Spurs coming against Manchester City last August. Huddlestone is now back to fitness and played on Spurs' pre-season tour of America, but it appears he is down the pecking order at White Hart Lane. Huddlestone was left out of the squad for last weekend's opening day defeat at Newcastle and Andre Villas-Boas is happy to let the former Derby man go out on loan. The 25-year-old is keen to go out on loan so that he can regain his match sharpness after his spell on the sidelines and a number of clubs are chasing his signature. Stoke are thought to be at the front of the queue for Huddlestone with Tony Pulis keen to bring in a creative spark to his midfield.) There's certainly some movement today, isn't there? i think we could well be seeing some new faces chaps.
Hi Boss, that will be terrible if that happens IMHO. My guess though would be VDV in for Jake, but I'm hoping for some more transfer news.
I think there is a possibility of VDV playing deeper for us if AVB wants to accommodate Sig and VDV in the same team. IIRC he did that in the Euros didn't he? He still got forward quite a bit (scored a cracking goal actually) but if he adapts his game a bit he could do well for us there. The only concern is that it might leave us a little bit lightweight in midfield, after all even though Modric wasn't very good at it, at least he tried to occasionally help out defensively and track back.
To be fair, Modric did pretty well chasing back for the most part, he just wasn't so good at facing up with opponents but he at least managed to slow them down. I'd much rather have VDV up next to the striker than Sigurdsson, although I'm not sure whether Sig can play deeper. Thinking about it, if we got Carroll he could get VDV the knock downs like the old days with Crouch. Bassong's official now, wish him all the best, he's a good defender on his day but he needs the regular football.
Pjanic looks pretty useful - he gets the occasional goal, and has created plenty for Metz, Lyon and Roma - plus he's another free kick taker to add to the pile. Replacing a Croat with a Bosnian, though? A bit politically dodgy...
Apparently we've enquired about Dzeko as the Adebayor deal's still stalling(don't believe it myself) so maybe we're going to building our team around Bosnians to replace the Croatians we had.
Pjanic plays further forward than Modric though doesn't he? More of a VDV/Sig type. I could well be wrong though. Bassong moving was the right thing for his career and the club, he needs a run of games to get back to his best but even then it's unlikely he would break into the first team here. We've in all probability made a loss but you can't win them all. NOW BUY US A STRIKER LEVY!!
Looks like we just bilked Newcastle out of a few quid, then. Centre back options of Kaboul, Vertonghen, Dawson, Gallas, and Caulker, with Perrotta, Hall and Fryers (once again, the tribunal needs to hurry the **** up) sounds alright, if Gallas is there in a mentoring role for Caulker and the others, plus a few games here and there. So...striker?
I like VDV playing near the front man, as he's a quality finisher, the best in the club I'd say. I would always choose VDV over Lennon, normal rotation etc permitting, but for WBA maybe Jake should be the unlucky guy on the bench. Until tomorrow, I'm not speculating too much, because so much depends on who we sign today, if anyone
If we play 4-2-3-1 against WBA (based on players at the club at this exact moment) Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, BAE; Sandro, Huddlestone; Sigurdsson, VDV, Bale; Defoe Verts to make his PL debut, Hudds to dictate play from the middle, and plenty of potential scorers backing up/making up for Defoe (depending on how you prefer to read it)
HBIC I would put in Lennon at home and maybe put Sig on the bench. I think West Brom will put a few behind the ball to try to negate Bale & Lennon and a few balls like Benny played on Sat may enable us to get in behind them. BTW has anyone located 6061?
just read on the beeb site Ade hopes to sign this week for 5mill,we're also looking at Dezko, and Hudd may go on loan to Stoke.
