In true Soldado style, he's posted a message that doesn't quite hit the spot, as the formatting cuts part of it off:

Lovely sentiment. Typical of how he's been during his time at the club. Quite sad, really.

It says a lot about the man, and shows that fans still appreciate footballers who seem to be genuinely nice people who work hard, even if it works out abysmally for them on the pitch.

In other news, Kane has done an interview with the Telegraph where he talks about his taking the no. 10 shirt and his desire to become a legend at Spurs, which makes great reading for us fans.

A lovely man with a first class attitude. I am gutted it didn't work out for Soldado at Spurs. I hope he goes back to being a 20 plus goals per season player with Villareal.

He posted this on his Instagram page after the transfer was confirmed, and it does back up what a lot of people have said about him being the perfect professional even though things didn't work out for him

Tough choice between Bent and Bentley for me - both involved spunking away large sums of money on players we didn't need, and fitting them into the team meant meddling with a system that was working - Bentley meant shifting Lennon onto the left wing, while Bent meant splitting up the Keane/Berbatov partnership that was ridiculously effective for the previous couple of seasons.

Between the two, I'd put Bentley slightly ahead: he was with the club for five years and we were unable to shift him, and within a year of his being released he retired from football aged 29.

N'Jie update - OL's president is now saying that the move to Spurs has been complicated by an offer from another English club...

Whats the betting that after a medical with us he's off in a taxi to Stamford Bridge?

Doesn't surprise me...I never believe until I see them at the press event.

I genuinely am confused as to why, 2 games into the season, we have not bought a wide player and a striker. It's like we think it's worth ignoring the first 2 or 3 matches...we did it in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons...and missed out on CL qualification by 2 points each time.
We knew that Soldado , Adebayor, Lennon, Kaboul, Chiriches, Fazio etc. were not wanted but only replaced the defenders.
This window started off well but has petered out to being a bit cack now.
Njie was identified and should have been bought weeks ago, but because we waited and haggled (over a relatively small amount) we, atbest won't have him until our 3rd league match or, at worst, will be gazumped by a club who realise they are weak in the same area after their first match of the season.

And they say history doesn't repeat itself. I feel like I just jumped out of a DeLorean and back to where we were several year ago. It's getting a bit tedious now.

If we paid just £500k over the odds for each player that would be ~£100 extra per season for each seat at WHL. I'm glad you think that is a small amount....
And none of the players we are linked with are likely to be starters at the beginning anyway.

There no reason to sneer mate. .. the club gets hundreds of millions every year in tv money, prize money and transfer fees...an extra million on 5 deals a window is a relative small amount...that's all I meant... it has nothing to do with ticket prices.

And to add to your point, if we got the right players in earlier at a slightly higher fee, it is likely our win ratio would be a tad higher so our end of season points tally would be better, thus finishing potentially higher; meaning the final position prize money we receive covers that extra outlay and who knows what that could mean in terms of European football the following year.

All speculative of course but to dare is to do as the club motto goes... not faff around 'til last minute and hope for the best!

I didn't mean to sneer but the Club budgets to spend all the income as far as I can tell so the extra money would have to be sourced somewhere. And while I agree with Flaspurs' reasoning above I really doubt Levy has missed this somehow and there are lots of reasons why transfers might be delayed (eg we might havre Njie as a 4th of 5th choice and have missed out on the others).

Fair enough re sneering...I can only afford to take my kids to 1 or 2 prem matches a year, the rest are cup matches where tickets are 'only' £20 and £5 so I am a more than a little pissed at our ticket prices and did not take your comment well...I should have asked and not assumed so apologies.
Don't think I agree with you about the rest but understand your logic...need to think about it before giving a response that properly answers you points.

Exactly! Maybe they should add ...'to dare is to do, er, perhaps, eventually' ?
