I think Kane has more sense, he will stay with you for at least another two seasons and if he keeps his performance level up, may then look to further his career and earnings.

After saying that he doesn't need to leave spurs because he thinks they are a big club etc. just a few weeks ago he will make himself look stupid to now ask for a transfer.
He is going nowhere imo and will not ask to leave

Agreed. Kane is going nowhere for at least a year or two. At least he better bloody well not - it took me a while to come up with this profile!

Question is if and when Hugo leaves - who do we replace him with? I know a number of users here are happy with Vorm but he made a number of Gomes-esque errors last season...I'm not too sure myself.

If rumours are to be believed and Begovic could be tempted we should be all over that like a rash.

Think Begovic is nailed for the Chavs.
Hugo will be here at least for this season and depending on where we finish or if we win a trophy will dictate whether he goes or stays.

I think Hugo will stay because Levy will lock him up somewhere...even if he throws a tantrum (I hope he wouldn't) I think he will stay another year like Modric. I'm happy with Vorm so I would use the presumably substantial fee in a years time to go and buy a top, top young keeper to take the no. 1 shirt in a few years time.

Kane is nailed on to stay, he is priceless to the club both on the pitch and as an image and a symbol of what this team needs to become.

That's only because they're the only team who've shown concrete interest in him. No idea why he'd want to go there and keep the bench warm when he could be first choice at us or indeed Man Utd should they come calling.

Vorm's a good keeper but I personally rate Begovic higher; commands his box excellently.

CK- Seem to remember some years ago we nearly signed him (from Portsmouth I think) and for some reason he decided to go to Stoke - go figure that one.
So even though you're probably right in that Chelsea is the only one to show interest I don't think he'd be interested in come to Spurs.

Yes, that was a bizarre little incident where we were supposed to land him and Kaboul in a joint deal, but Pompey then pulled the plug and we ended up taking them to a tribunal for an extra £1m due to the fee for Kaboul no longer being a joint fee, or something like that.

But yes, it was quite weird that he'd have chosen Stoke over us; that January we were playing some decent football and firmly in the race for a top-4 finish (which eventually happened).

However, it was 5 years ago now. A lot has changed since then, including his quality.

In an ideal world, De Gea will move to Madrid and Utd will go for someone other than Hugo - Rob Green for example. Maybe they'll go for Begovic. I doubt he'd turn them down.

I’ve been unpleasantly surprised before, and I’ll be unpleasantly surprised again. But letting any player we want go to a PL rival means Levy and ENIC take a huge hit in the pocketbook, to me, since it would seriously undercut both their effort to make Spurs a bigger team and the potential asking price for the club once they move to a new grounds.

So while players who want to go will go, eventually, I’m skeptical Levy will allow them to go to PL clubs. Why should he? To get tens of millions now to cost himself hundreds of millions later? Does that really sound like Levy?

Agreed. He stood firm with Modric when the gulf between the two sides was far bigger than the current gulf between ourselves and United. Obviously, they have a far bigger name and wage structure than us, but I'm still far from convinced that LVG has a clue what he's doing. They had some truly embarrassing results last season that Moyes would've been crucified for. Their finishing 4th was more down to us and Liverpool being cack than their own talent.

The fact that Hugo has stuck around for 3 years of defensive tripe suggests that he is more loyal and dedicated than I first thought.

How long does Lloris have left on his current contract at Spurs, because United might buy a stop gap stopper an then go for him when contract runs out or is run down enough that they can make a low bid for him.
I would prefer he stays at Spurs than go to United to strengthen them and I hope United sell Degea and buy a flop of a keeper, because with their back 4 they are really **** without Degea

Levy has sold to Utd before tho. Carrick and Berba. We also sold Keane to Liverpool.

So you should be safe to keep him unless he asks for transfer or United make a offer you can't refuse - which Levy is good at maximising the price

  17. I was listening to some punter on TalkSport, just a short while ago, and he (and the presenter), in as a matter-of-fact way as you can imagine, stated that, if De Gay goes, Loris will be off to United, as though Levy had absolutely no say in the matter!

    It was sickening to hear.

Then, they discussed whether or not Kane would be off to United, too, and they both agreed that Levy would "probably" fight tooth-and-nail to keep him this season, but that he'd likely be off next season, if he players another blinder!

I couldn't believe what I was listening to! At one stage, I thought I'd stumbled on to a radio version of this board! I half expected the presenter to start referring to us as "Spuds!"

Various reports are now claiming that we're back in for Schneiderlin.
Probably so they can have a dig at us when he ends up at Old Trafford.

  19. It'd be great to land Schneiderlin and keep Lloris and Kane.

What would the Murdoch owned media have to say about that!

If we pull that one off then I think I might end up quite beside myself. Alderweireld is a big signing for us but signing that would be a major, major deal. I'm not at all confident of it happening though - I think we'll keep Lloris and Kane but bringing in Schneiderlin would be a bridge too far.

The Hacks wouldn't know what to do with themselves. We're supposed to sell our players to bigger clubs whenever they ask, not refuse to do that and then buy other players they want too!

Dammitt Spurs get back in your box.
