Dawson, Benny, Chadli will definitely go. Chiriches is one I can see going too. I'd be happy to see both Dembele and Paulinho sold too but I don't think we will manage to get rid of them.
We are certainly struggling to sell the squad players. Some probably don't want to leave either. Makes it harder.
You could have more than 25 if you didnt register the same 25 in both Europa League and Premier League and you can play anyone in the domestic cups so long as they're not cup-tied, I believe. I agree with you though, I think Pochettino is saying he wants a squad of 25 players that will be realistically expected to play a part in the season, regardless of their age. Anyone outside of the 25 he decides on will likely be moved on and younger players used in emergencies or as a result of significant progression.
One of the main reasons Pocho was brought in was to promote the younger lads. Levy said something similar in his statement.
The Yedlin deal should be concluded in the next couple of days, according to the Sounders coach who mentioned this in an interview yesterday. Villareal have apparently signed Ruiz, which now supposedly allows Musacchio to now leave. Also, the Express are linking us with a move for Daniel Agger.
Agger's a crock who was massively overrated by Liverpool fans because he could kick the ball hard. No thanks.
There's reports saying Walker won't be back until mid-September, which presumably has a knock-on effect on our signing Yedlin and selling Naughton. Typical!
Yedlin to be announced in 48 hours and if he's the last signing then I hope somebody shines for us this season.
It looks like things are starting to get moving on the Musacchio deal. After that, we've still got players signed last summer that haven't been given a chance to prove themselves, so there may well be no need to bring in anyone else - unless a genuine game-changer becomes available on Deadline Day.
I'm okay with this squad except With Walker out till at least September and Yedlin unavailable for longer than that, we need a right back. Another scorer is probably a good idea, whether it's a striker like Bony or Rodriguez, or someone like Depay. It's a tough one, since I'd like to see Kane play more. I agree with Poch the squad should be cut considerably. I don't see the need for Musacchio when we have Vertonghen and Kaboul as starters and Dier and Velkjovic as quality backups. I'm not convinced Kaboul/Dier isn't out best pair, actually. I don't see the need for Schneiderlin when we have two of Capoue/Bentaleb/Holtby as starters, not to mention Paulinho, and possibly Sandro and Dembele (though I think both may be sold.)
Very underwhelming signings this summer if that's all there is. We need to see some outgoings asap. Too many players that have proven themselves to be not good enough for our aims.
Apparently Swansea have been reported to FIFA because they haven't paid the 30% sell on fee attached to Vorm.
I'm happy that the defence has been addressed. There's been issues with it for some time, in one form or another. However, I do agree. We still need that exciting "edge of your seat" player, IMO. Who knows, maybe lamela will be that player this season, but I wouldn't put my money on it. I'm still a firm believer that 1 injury to a striker, or a falling out (adebayor) and we'll be up **** creek. It's a joke how long it takes us to shift some players.
yes , it is amazing how long it takes us to shift players compared to others . Holding on to players for a few extra quid is detrimental to the Manager over a season. I hope Poch gets the players he wants but is highly unlikely . Nice to sign a couple of proven standout players that would add to first 11 than another load of contract bargains, sell on future prospects and mid table wonders also let the manager choose them. The club has shown recently that it is incapable of doing this.
