Why would Chelsea want him ? They have far better players in midfield but he is for Brazil a typical Maureen player. He has been awful and would not be missed but maybe a new manager may do something with him, the warning is 2 have failed. Why do we only sign Brazilian sloggers , I always thought the country was a wash with creative talent.
I think those that are saying that they would happily let Paulinho go, will bitterly regret it, when they see him doing what he's capable of under proper management elsewhere.
Granted Brazil and Scolari are of higher quality but I still think it's misguided to say a player is better than another due to more international caps. Managers, whether they're Scolari or Woy have a preferred set up and formation where certain players may not be a better player as an individual than another but may fit a certain system thus making them the standout choice to the manager. Paulinho looked amazing for Brazil, he won 3rd place in the player of the tournament at the Confeds Cup yet for us, under both AVB and Tim, he's looked very average for the most part.
I think a Schurrle type of player would work really well playing off Soldado. The pace through the middle would help stretch the defence a bit more, at the moment whenever Soldado's in the box it seems like whichever way he turns to run there is a defender there. I agree with Mourinho that Schurrle will end up as a striker sooner or later though.
Paulinho better than Oscar, Willian, Luiz and Schurrle? You must be watching a different player to me. Paulinho to me is no better than Jenas was when he first signed for us. The fact he's Brazilian means people tend to rate him as better than he is imo.
The paper talk on Paulinho suggests we have no choice - contract clause I suppose. I doubt Levy is much inclined to sell anyone to Chelsea unless our coaches think he's a dud (or we get Lukaku in return). Otherwise I don't see much chance of us agreeing to it.
What is the clause? If you're **** we'll let you go to Chelsea? Why are we not putting this in all contracts?
No doubt it's hard to judge a player independently of his team. I was one of Paulinho's bigger fans at the start of the season. He can produce goals. He's a good ball winner. The problem I have with him is that he's too weak a tackler to play a deeper lying role, and too poor a shooter to be a really strong CAM. I guess what Brazil does is give him a role where he only does the two things he's very good at.
Chelsea with avb as manager unsettled modric...the following season they hijack the willian deal and now we sell them paulinio??? We should sign a special relationship deal with them!
Whereas you guys prefer to send your top players to more northern climes. Manchester seems to be especially popular!
