Falque and Ceballos usually feature in pre-season, and a couple of years ago were used for the kit unveiling...then either get loaned out or make a few cameos in dead rubber cup games. Kevin Stewart featured a few times in pre-season last year, yet he never got on the pitch when the season started and was released when the season finished.
Could we go for the Alex Ferguson route (he had Neville/Neville, Butt, Scholes, Beckham and Giggs all in the team when they were young) and play Lloris Walker Chiriches Kaboul Rose Sandro, Holtby Lamela, Eriksen, Pritchard Kane Subs: Archer, Fryers, Vertonghen, Bentaleb, Carroll, Townsend, Ceballos Play that lot together for 5 seasons and they should be pretty good. Falque, Chadli, Capoue and Naughton are quite young too and can come in for injuries. We could sell Dawson, Siggy, Paulinho, Dembele, Lennon, Ade and Soldado and buy a decent young back up striker for Kane, another young centre back and a third goalkeeper and we don't need anyone else for 5 years.
Craig Bushmouse @CraigBushmouse1 · 2m Tottenham set to gazump Liverpool for signing of Reus. Have had a £42million bid accepted and set for talks with Reus's agent. #lfc #thfc
According to the ITK idiots, we've done this instead of signing Ben Davies. Try to buy a left-back, then decide he's too expensive, so spend an extra £30m on an attacker, instead. What goes through these people's minds?
There's one I won't believe even if he comes here for a physical. It looks like he's so good I'd welcome him, though, even for 42 million. I am really no expert, though. Sell Paulinho for 20 million, Soldado for 15, Gylfi for 8, and get Reus and change in return? Seems like a good idea to me. If we have too many potential starters, it makes sense to sell a number of them and get one or two major upgrades, whether it's Reus or someone else. 30 goals in 62 appearances as a midfielder for Dortmund. 7 goals in 21 appearances for Die Mannschaft. Close control his strength, supposedly. Who wouldn't want him? He seems to be more of an LM, and I would think we're looking for an LB, a CM (either deep lying or forward), or maybe a striker. Still, a three of Eiriksen, him and Lamela could be fantastic, however they're arranged.
Sometimes I wonder why we bother with the transfer window thread. When was a rumour correct and when have we ever signed more than a couple of players. Nah! waste of time It is. Alright more than 3! Never right! It's true! Won't sign anyone you wait!. HIAG will confirm it. He will.
Swans have turned down a 8 million pound bid from Liverpool for Ben Davies, according to the Beeb sport news
Worth trying an offer of £6m + Sigurdsson? If it's true that Siggy is holding out for a move to Swansea over Palace, that seems to be the best possible solution for all parties.
I wouldn't mind a straight swap as I'd rate both players at similar fees but I think money and Siggy for Davies is resulting in a superb deal for Swansea.
The Telegraph are claiming that we've now agreed a £10m fee for Davies and other media outlets are echoing them. Time will tell, I guess, as we've been here before.
I really should unsubscribe to any pages under the GMS umbrella on Facebook, because they don't so much spitball random transfer rumours as launch a blitzkrieg of them.
Glad it's around the £10m barrier, that was what I said would be the max I think we should pay. Good young player who should improve. An upgrade on Rose so that's a bonus.
"Glad it's around the £10m barrier, that was what I said would be the max I think we should pay." 10m if all the Levy performance clauses are triggered by the player.
"Falque and Ceballos have been involved in the pre-season training" Iberian speakers posse forming there it seems. Another reason for Adebayor to get stroppy.
