Was joking about the Naughton stat, BTW. Just mean, well, put it this way: If you were Rose's agent you'd feel like you were working with pretty damn slim pickings with that as your client's USP. Danny Rose: scored one very good* goal and gets fouled a lot. Any offers? * Though actually slightly over-rated.
I think I just found the forward pairing that will be most enjoyable to watch next season... please log in to view this image
Has anybody checked to make sure he hasn't tied them together? It certainly looks like it sometimes!...
A full backs job is'nt scoring goals that's why we have strikers,if a back can score goals,he is an asset,to a team
It is hard to make a strong case for Rose based on his play this year. But the fouls drawn are something to consider, since they have occurred and probably will occur in great places for Eiriksen to take free kicks.
I'm struggling to blame Rose entirely for his poor performances. He missed something like 17 consecutive games through an injury picked up unnecessarily in an easy game and has struggled ever since. Our whole defence seems completely disorganised, no matter who we've picked in all four roles and despite starting the season with a lot of clean sheets. We conceded two goals in our first 11 games in all competitions this season, one to Arsenal and one to Chelsea. We then kept five more clean sheets in our next seven games and then seemed to fall apart following the City hammering. I don't see any of our frailties being addressed in terms of tactics or systems and I certainly don't see the defensive unit becoming more cohesive. We're being hit by the same problems in every game and only good saves by Lloris or poor finishing is seeing us across the line in most games.
Well that might (might) be the case but the simple facts are: a) strikers cost anything like 2,3x more than other players and b) approximately 1/2 to 2/3 of all transfers are flops. Or, more accurately perhaps, do not result in players that have settled, successful times with their new club. Therefore strikers are more of a risk than other players, simply cos more money is being spent on a player who, more likely than not, will not improve the team considerably. With footballers a bird in the hand is worth something like 2-3 in the bush which is why I think that selling one of your best players because "you can replace him" is foolhardy at best, naive and ignorant of history at worst. We did, after all, replace Adebayor once before with this Spanish chap who had wonderful statistics and a price tag that befits his world-class status as NEW STRIKER but, as it was always likely to turn out, we would have been royally ****ed if we had celebrated this fantastic acquisition by selling Adebayor who, after all, is not NEW STRIKER. There are issues with Ade, some historical baggage. But, just like with the still-ongoing Harry debate, I don't see why lack of perfection is such a big deal.
There's a rumour which originates in Brazil that claims that we're selling Paulinho to Chelsea. Sounds unlikely, but it's the same source that broke his move to us.
Hope it's bullshit,we will making our rivals stronger, but it's strikers they need, maureen has said that himself, and they have to watch ffp
Paulinho moving (hell, anyone moving, really) wouldn't be a shock, but not only would I be surprised to see us selling him to Chelsea, I'd be surprised Chelsea would want him. Would he really play instead of Luiz, Oscar, Willian/Schurrle? I've got no interest in Cole, but Lukaku's a whole different story.
As much as I despise Chelsea, Paulinho has done nothing to show he's better than any of those players. Infact, they've all performed better than him this season, especially Oscar and Shurrle.
I would take either Oscar or Hazard over Paulinho, no doubt. Schurrle, too, since he's a right winger who scores, which would be very useful, much as I like Lennon. I'd rather have Paulinho than Willian or Luiz, though. Willian has gotten a lot of praise for running very energetically and not producing much. Luiz is talented but it's hard to say where to play him--making him like Paulinho, really. But Paulinho produces goals at a decent clip, and isn't a nasty little **** easily mistaken for Sideshow Bob.
