He never got much of a crack at playing number 10, and looked good when he had one--some times. While it's debatable if he ever would have cracked the starting lineup that much, he is young, and always gave it everything he had, so I'm sorry to see him go. I don't feel so bad about ditching Gylfi and Holtby, though, now that I've come to appreciate the virtues of holding onto Chadli against our better judgment.
There seems to be a rumour going around that Boro are on the verge of loaning Milos Veljkovic from us, which is a bit odd. I guess that playing senior football alongside one of our other young defenders would be good for him, but we've got a few injuries at the back already. I thought he might have a shot at starting or playing some part in the cups.
I think that is confirmed PNP, or at least Velkjovic himself certainly seems to think it is according to this article: '"I’m leaving on a three-month loan,” he told the Serbian press. “Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka called me to talk about the possibility. He was previously an assistant to Jose Mourinho. “I am happy to get the chance. In January a loan could be extended to the end of the season,” he explained.' http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/milos-veljkovic-boro-close-loan-7931849
Cheers, Fro. The experience should be good for him, assuming that he gets enough game time. Might need to arrange an accident for his competition, like Fredericks did... I'm sure I've read somewhere that Stambouli can play at centre-half and his appearances for us would suggest that, too. I'd prefer not to push him into an unfamiliar position, but it would allow Paulinho more of a chance to play in our cup side. Bit embarrassing for a guy who started for Brazil at the World Cup to fail to get into our second XI, really. Sadly understandable, though.
According to Mundo Deportivo (and regurgitated in yesterday's Standard) we're looking to bring in Munci when his contract at Sevilla expires at the end of the season. Yup, we're back to chopping and changing our DoF again!
Good move for Veljkovic if it goes through, plus playing alongside Fredericks is only going to be a plus-plus situation for the two lads and Spurs
Veljkovic has officially joined Boro on a three-month loan. Nothing we didn't know, admittedly. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/milos-to-boro-161014/?
something doesn't add up,the sports news is saying the goons are ahead of Man u to sign Mat Hummels for 32 million, yet thet are saying Whinger has 20 million to spend in January,by my maths thats 12 million short
Might be all Wenger chooses to spend but why would he be limited to £20m? The relegation teams can spend that kind of money in a window We're not signing Hummels either way
L'Equipe have linked us with one of Redknapp's old boys, who seemed on the verge of signing for QPR this summer, before they bought Sandro from us. Lassana Diarra, once of Chelsea, the Goons and Pompey, then via Real Madrid to Anzhi and Lokomotiv Moscow, is in talks to join in January, according to the French media. He's a good player and I can sort of see the reason that he's being linked, as he'd fill a similar void to Schneiderlin, but his attitude has been poor at times and his wages would be massive. I think we've got enough players like that already!
Diarra is a massive no for me, as if we don't already have enough players in that position as it is. The last thing we need, even on a free, is a 29 year old on big wages who has had attitude problems in the past. To get us out of our poor form on the pitch we need players who want to play for Pochettino and the club, not players looking for a last big payday with an easy ride.
Judging by his last interview, then yes, he does.....He is waaaay too good to be in a relegation battle.
Best of luck in the Champions League, finishing 2nd in the League is a great achievement. These 9 games have flown by this season, I'm just grateful we stayed up.
Closing in on Rodriguez apparently and Real are willing to sell Bale to Utd. Firstly I'll say that Rodriguez isn't good enough and with a cruciate injury we'd be mad to buy him even if Poch wants him. I've been a little skeptical of Poch's judgement this season. Now Bale to Utd already? I'll wait to see if it happens before commenting. I'll predict now that if it happens he'll drift. The Spurs players are fed up with Ade, what took them so long? Bye bye in January.
