Apparently we've made an offer for soldado. Yep, you guessed it.... £17m. Apparently Defoe is being offered around too.
wonder if signing Paulinho will convince Damio to join us?,now there are 2 other Brazilian's at Spurs
Personally, I suspect that the interest in Damiao is still there. But, only at the right price. What the signing of Paulinho will say to Internacional is, look, if we can buy an established, regular first choice pick in the Brazilian national side - also described as the heartbeat of the current side, for £17mil, we're not paying more for a guy who's a substitute in that side, at best.
I'd agree with Roo RE Damiao - he can do one. Tired of hearing us linked with him now, he's never come across as being that interested in joining us and quite frankly there are better strikers out there I'd want us to pursue over him. Besides Villa is looking extremely close to joining which delights me . Great news on Paulinho too by the way, hopefully the OS will announce it sometime this week.
I think it's more a case of Internacional & his third party owners playing games, not the player himself. Also, Villa, albeit a great striker, is 31 and not long back from a career threatening injury. A younger option must be sought.
Can't have it both ways SoS, it would be disrespectful to Internacionale, what would you rather, seeing him do to his club what Modric did to us by voicing his wishes, or be discreet till its the right time like Paulinho?
But it seems certain we will play one striker in a 4-3-3, so not sure how we would keep Villa and Demeow on board. Surely they would both expect to be first choice. I personally would be happy with Villa, Defoe and Ade. All very different options, with Villa the initial first choice. In Europa/League Cup, give Kane a bit of time.
Don't know about anyone else but those who thought Martinez was a good idea here, his first business for Everton is to try and bring Aruna Kone with him to Goodison!...a bullet dodged imo, well, two actually!
Damiao has given previous interviews though mate where he's never really said he'd be interested in joining. He's always maintained he's happy to stay at Inter as he wants to ensure he gets into the 2014 world cup squad. I appreciate his loyalty to his club but if he wanted to join, he'd have at least given an incline. Villa's age doesn't concern me much to be honest. There's been many great strikers who've played well into their 30s and done the business - van Nistlerooy, Drogba, Milito etc. We've got Kane and Coulibaly progressing (Kane had a great U-20 tournament, England's best player in my opinion). Unless the young striker is **** hot with massive potential, I'd be happy with Villa, Defoe, possibly Ade (providing he gets his arse in gear) with Kane and Coulibaly in reserve.
Only way it'd work is a front 3 with Bale on the right cutting in, Villa on the left cutting in and Dameow down the centre. Though it'd mean benching Lennon.
Nifty deal getting Paulinho. Inter really ****ed up there, apparently in Jan they were selling Coutinho to put the funds towards Paulinho, which never materialised. Their fans were irate Arsenal version 2.
Paulinho is set take the number 8 shirt so I'd expect Parker to leave, Roo mentioned QPR and Palace are interested in him. Hudd I can definitely see leaving, he knows he'll be down the pecking order and a move is better for him. I'd like for Livermore to stay, especially IF Parker does indeed go, we'll need a back up to Sandro in the DM department and I think Livermore can do a decent job providing Paulinho and Dembele are along side him. I reckon Dempsey could be a surprise exit if we bring in some attacking targets. Will be interesting to see what happens with Smith and Naughton too. Both of them won't stay with our squad in my opinion as having 3 right backs is silly. If I had to choose I'd sell Naughton I think, I've been a fan of Smith and would like to see him stay and challenge Walker.
