Would you rather have Parker and Livermore messing up our midfield and Ramos barking out orders in Spanish?
We're just going back over old ground with this thing about AVB. Yes, some of his tactics and substitutions last season were a little baffling - there were times when I wondered about his competence. But, the people who count the most I.e. the players, all seem to like and respect him. I can't believe that would happen if they thought he didn't know what he was doing. If Levy gives him most of what he wants this summer, then he's out of excuses. Next season will then tell if he has the ability to get us into a regular C.L. Position, or not. I hope he gets the players he wants, because I have a feeling that next season is going to be even more competitive.
Paulinho denies there has been any bid from Real.... http://www1.skysports.com/football/...m-target-Paulinho-rejects-Real-Madrid-rumours
Now Real are offering cash and Di Maria for Bale says the Mirror. I don't agree with cash and players, cash yes but players no especially if we've never looked at them. No Barfly I wouldn't.
I'd snap their hand off for £50m and Di Maria and I think they are stupid enough to do it. Gunna be brave here and say - I dont think Bale is going to reproduce last season's form.
Makeweights never work. Probably due to the fact they are ushered in the direction of a club they don't really want to play for. Keep (preferred) or money-only, £60m minimum.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/...lose-to-signing-Vitesse-striker-Wilfried-Bony Great signing for Swansea - Bookmark this for when hes scored 20+ goals next year. We should be in for him.
hang on. - AVB has had a first season where our best midfielder was sold and most of our reinforcements came to the club late on in the window. (Lloris, Dembele, Ade and Dempsey.) They got no time with their team new mates and/or had no preseason. In addition, we didn't have enough striker cover to cater for injuries and/or the ACONs. - some of us noticed this last summer and it turned out to bite us. Then there's the fact that we cannot compete financially with some of the other clubs around us. To expect a top 4 finish when there's at least 4 other clubs that can spend more and pay higher wages, is ridiculous. We're about to see Arsenal spend upwards of 20mill on a striker (Higuain), + the possibility of landing Rooney. That is way out of our reach. How AVB can be out of excuses after 1 season where he wasn't backed properly, when he got our record points total with what he had (which would have normally qualified) is beyond me. The squad he has isn't actually that good at all. we have some very good individuals, but we are severely lacking in other positions and have no decent depth.
yes, it was a reply aimed at about 3 people, but my not606 is ****ed, so I had to just write something as a separate comment. I can't reply with quote. - the loading symbol just spins and spins and doesn't work. I have lost the ability to upload images or add smilies. Also, anyone else's smilies appear l this "< laugh >" , rather than showing the smilie itself. I don't know whats happened to be honest!
Try clearing your browser's cache and see if that helps, Roo. I'd PM you, but I'm not sure it'd work.
Roo mate, I did say IF Levy gives him what he wants this summer, THEN it's no more excuses. Considering how we were left short of strikers, particularly, last season, he did very well.
You've described the biggest downside to being a fan. Nothing is even close to certain. When I'm in a good mood it seems like part of the fun, but when I'm looking at the half empty glass it looks like an ocean of worry. The realistic chance that not just our big new signing, but our best player and maybe even our manager are on the way out makes me wonder why I want to pull for any of them. The truth is that this is one of the reasons I lost interest in baseball: not knowing if our star was coming back next year. I'm old enough to remember when most players played for the same team their entire career. All fans lose a bit of their enjoyment from players moving around (except for the handful of biggest clubs.)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23083749 Hooray. Every player RM sign make the chances of Bale leaving slimmer. Stops City strengthening too.
Paulinho is a big improvement on most of our current MF, Sandro was/is a Brazilian International that arrived at the Lane and Blanc is ****, and if he ever turns up at the Lane I hope its only as a spectator, apart from that, great post TMT!
On paper, a triumvirate of Sandro, Paulinho and Dembele looks like it would be a handful for a lot of teams. The issue, though, is what happens with injuries - Parker looked willing but had no cutting edge, Huddlestone can pass the ball but isn't going to get any more mobile, Livermore seems limited, whilst Holtby blew hot and cold. Holtby can contribute, Parker may have a season left in him, but the other two are about £12m+ of potential transfer funds and little more TBH.
I missed one...we don't need a box-to-box mf'er that can score? ...of course, Chelsea must be really regretting signing Ramires! There's room for that type of player in any side Thor, all the top sides have one.
So he should get 1 season with who he wants? I've accepted that we're in a transition period. 1 season is still not enough with his own players. If he finishes 5th again, I won't be on his back. There are teams in this league who blow us out the water with spending. However, what I would like to see is a very respectable cup run. - I enjoyed the Europa this season and I'd like us to go for it again. Totally agree HBIC. It needs using to sort the bench out too. We really need to address that this season.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ottenham-and-Newcastle-target-Younes-Belhanda Could this be our answer to the creative midfielder issue? Are we one of the clubs to make an offer? It would make sense. Oh, and read "nick's" comment about vertonghen! I do love a WUM!
