He's a Norse God - perhaps he knows something about life the universe and everything that the rest of us don't.
Pocket change for PSG. All down to Bale and PSG. They'd be moving to a better team but in a poorer league. It would be more of an achievement to get Spurs top 4 than it would to win PSG the league. I'd be surprised if they went.
How do you suppose PSG would do in the PL District if you think that they are a better team than Spurs?
3rd/4th. We played PSG in pre-season (last year) and drew 1-1 but to be honest they ripped us apart, whilst both sides were very under-strength they seem a very good side. Lavezzi, Ibrahimovic, Lucas Moura, Veratti, Matuidi, Pastore etc. Some very good players there, was very impressed at how they fared v Barca. I'd say they are not as good as the Manchester clubs but slightly better than the North London clubs.
Mr Thor. Please don't think I was challenging your right to hold an opinion. You are entitled to whatever opinion you like, it's a free country (just about), it's just not an opinion I agree with. So let's agree to differ.
Okay, well at least you're honest. I find that an interesting opinion as I've never compared us or other PL clubs with continental teams. Ossie Ardiles went there for a time but came back so who knows,if Bale and AVB go then back they'll come.
Apart from playing in the CL and the money available, PSG have no real leverage over Spurs. Makes no real sense for either AVB or Bale to leave Spurs now, especially for PSG. As good as PSG can become, Ligue 1 is a forgone conclusion until Monaco settle (2-3 years).
It's as much to do with people not realising the importance of the word 'likely' in the sentence. Although I'd hope most people that misunderstood still wouldn't give their answer as 365 Anyway, I'd recommend reading Freakonomics if you find that kind of stuff interesting. Bringing things back on topic, I share my Birthday with Davids and Marin. Wait, what was the thread about again?
Technically its about Spurs in the summer transfer window, but seeing as absolutely bugger all is happening we might as well carry on with a tangent
Exactly what I was going to post Spurm but I had second thoughts. District, Gascoigne went to Lazio a club deemed similar in stature to Norwich but because he was offered the dosh away he went. So if the gelt is right and players being mercenaries I can see them both going anywhere where the money is right. They're both young and 2 years at PSG would mean nothing to them.
I agree, I wasn't trying to actually get things on topic, it was just a silly joke. Although I had genuinely forgotten what thread I was on
imho he has a great chance of winning silver ware at Psg, being honest he has nearly zero chance at Spurs being a realist.
as the window isn't officially open yet (right?) does anyone else think there may be a flutter of activity on july 1st with all our early window business? No, thought not.
Don't think so mate. Not much more than trinkets at the moment. But, as DL says, it gets you into the C.L.
AVB is on hiding for nothing if he stays at Spurs. The board unlikely to truly back him, they will sell any decent player at the right price , buy cheap options but not necessary his choice. His rivals can blow him out of the water on fees and wages. What chance of success , pretty micro . PSG will let him have the team he wants, pay him treble, and has a descent chance of winning the Champs League year on. Trying to be honest it's a no brainer. .
Not necessarily. Does he speak French? I don't know, but if he doesn't then it might be a factor. Does he want to live in France? Does he like living in England? He has a kid nearing school age (and one slightly younger), do they have friends? A school place? What about his wife? What are her thoughts? We all tend to look at moves amongst clubs by players and managers as "oh, team X is higher up than team Y therefore person Z will go". Truth of the matter is that players and managers are both humans too with human feelings and influences outside of the football club. From last season you would hope AVB would know full well the grass isn't always greener. Chelsea > Porto. Chelsea richer than Porto. Which one do you think he enjoyed best?
I'm sure if you were paid bucket loads you could live anywhere in the world and find a suitable place to live where you would be happy enough. His kid could find a multi-national school of his choice and I'm sure his wife could cry into her Gucci purse stuffed with Euros. The thing is, AVB seems like a man of great integrity and I think he knows that he has got it good at Spurs. In the future, who knows but if there was any reason for him not wanting to move, it is that he can carry on with his project for a while longer where he is now. Like you said... compare his time at Porto and Chelsea.
Agree that he _could_ find places to live/schools etc but at what point would he _want_ to. I don't know when that is having never had anywhere near as much money as these guys. He's hardly on the breadline at Spurs and he must be sitting on a pile from his Chelsea pay-off. I could probably get a job in France (well, if the interview was in English, but we'll gloss over that!) that paid me £5k more a year. Do i want £5k more a year? Hell yes. Would i be willing to move to France to achieve it? No. I dunno where the boundaries lie for these millionaires though, but my point is that it isn't a certainty that AVB would jump just because moneybags PSG come calling. Anyway, don't they have to go through the club first? These reports that they are talking to AVB's agent is surely tapping up?
