Corinthians midfielder Paulinho has rubbished reports claiming his agent is in England to discuss a summer switch.

The Brazil international concedes that his representative Giuliano Bertolucci has travelled to Europe to speak with Premier League clubs, but insists he is not the subject of those talks.

The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from his homeland, with Tottenham Hotspur said to be leading the chase for his signature.

Paulinho is, however, happy in his homeland and has no desire to try his luck elsewhere any time soon.

He told Terra on Bertolucci's visit to England: "He is not negotiating. Giuliano has many clients. I am not the only one.

"He is in England, admittedly, but he works for many players.

"They say that Giuliano is working for me to leave Corinthians, but that is not the case.

"He has his work with other players and I don't understand why people persist with this story."

Definitely coincidence - with so many people in the world lot of them happen!

  4. tbh, McCarthy would be better suited to the likes of Arsenal, perhaps as a replacement for Wiltshire.

Power, one year Spurs won the FA Cup and France the 5 nations rugby championship. The year was the year of the cockerel in China and the symbols of both teams is what..................yes the cockerel. It happens in all walks of life not just sport but if you think it's coincidence well that's alright. It was like us winning a trophy with a 1 at the end of the year, coincidence? James Callaghan was PM when Jimmy Carter was pres, both JC. George Bush was pres when Gordon Brown was PM.

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/...No-bids-as-yet-for-Atletico-Mineiro-s-Bernard

Atletico Mineiro president Alexandre Kalil claims he is yet to receive an offer for highly-rated forward Bernard.

The 20-year-old is one of a number of South American starlets being linked with a summer move to Europe.

Premier League eyes are said to have fallen on the tricky playmaker, with Tottenham Hotspur credited with holding an interest as they pursue creative additions.

Borussia Dortmund and Porto are also reported to be keen on a man who has been capped three times by Brazil.

Atletico are, however, adamant that no formal bids have been put to them.

They have also made it clear that it would take around £21million to lure them into a sale.

Kalil said: "Bernard will only leave for 25million euros.

"We have great relations with Porto and their director Antero Henrique, but no offers for him have been made as yet."

£21m? that's us priced out of a deal then.

Are you a scientologist or something?

Um, to take one single example: Shouldn't you also list all the times that British Prime Ministers and US Presidents DIDN'T have the same initials? In several hundred years of international history it is not at all surprising that sometimes the initials of world leaders match. J is a very common first initial for men, by the way. I'm not sure what you think these coincidences mean but if you look at enough data for long enough you will find surprising anomalies. Statistically, surprising things are guaranteed to happen now and again. It's just how randomness works.

People think things happening that have a "billion-to-one chance" are somehow supernatural, forgetting that that are actually billions of people in the world, billions and trillions of situations and results (sporting or whatever). For someone to have the same hair colour, come from the same country, play in game that's similar, to some other guy and both play well or whatever is just not very unlikely given the tens (hundreds?) of thousands of games of football played over the years and for every game of football there are at least twenty-two players, making the likelihood of it happening even higher.

Here's a question - how big must a group of people be for it to be statistically likely that two of them share the same birthday?

(Sorry, I'll get back to football soon).

Don't - I'm already feeling a bit embarrassed that I replied. It's what a summer transfer window/close season will do to you.

Lenny, vim I started on this because it was posted earlier about things evening themselves out in football and the poster just put it down to coincidence and that things don't even themselves out because of any reason. I just wanted to point out that there seems to be a lot of these so called coincidences in football and elsewhere and it makes me think that like history repeating itself there does seem to be some not supernatural force but something somewhere which causes all these things to happen again and again. The Leeds v Glasgow scenario being typical of it. If you don't beleive it then ok but it wasn't a wind up.I don't wind up my fellow Spurs supporters and I'm sorry for any offence or perceived stupidity.

I don't know the answer to the question. There was a time when Lester Piggott was top jockey in Britain and Lafit Pincay the top jockey in the US, at the same time too, just saying. Anyway it's off topic.

Yes I've read the gossip and PSG want AVB again. Many topics in the gossip are rubbish and I'll believe it when it happens. I don't really care if he goes but I am concerned about having too many coaches in a short span of time. I care more about the club as a whole rather than individuals and if Bale wants to go then clear off and let's get settled.
