he Is another one that is near the the top of opta stats so if you email opta Joe he will tell us walker is our best defender, dembele is our best midfielder and Chadli is our best winger!

SoS I've got to stop you there. Vertonghen has never played a multiple matches in a row on left back, maybe in a game he switched to that position. His other positions were/are DM and CM, not LB. Me personally, I think he is better as DM than CB.

According to Walker he is up there with him Lennon and Bale. Cardiff seem to think they are getting Lennon?

Oh dear, his biggest problem is when he gets caught up the pitch, he's slow getting back.

Does anyone else suspect that Sky Sports pay additional TV money to Prem clubs to hold back some of their signings until the last half hour to make 'Deadline Day' more exciting??

    Lol!

To be fair, I think Chadli's come into a bit of unfair criticism. Don't get me wrong I know he's not set the world alight but I don't think he's been too bad. Someone actually mentioned (not sure if it was Cove or someone else) that Chadli may take time before he gets going but when he does, he'll be a great player. I think with Eriksen in the side we'll be a lot better, Eriksen will not only feed the balls to Soldado but also get the ball out wide to Chadli/ Lennon/ Lamela/ Townsend. A lot of our wide play has started from the back more so than someone feeding a pass from the centre through the full backs for the winger to run onto and get a first time shot or cross off, so when they're receiving a pass from the full back, they're already being marked by the oppositions' full back resulting in needing to lay the ball off to someone else.

Well that's what I think anyway lol.

He's played a few games at LB for us though and looked very good, perhaps not in a row but he's looked very comfortable there. He plays there for Belgium too doesn't he?

He made PFA team of the year at CB and to be honest, he's been superb there for us, reads the game brilliantly.

I really hope AVB doesn't see him at LB (or DM) to be honest. I think it's fair to say every Spurs fan wants to see a Kaboul - Vertonghen partnership.

Vermaelen and Vertonghen share LB but Vertonghen hasn't impressed there. At Ajax his main characteristic was that he could rush through the middle then give a long accurate pass to the forwards. He can't do that on LB because he can't generate the space and momentum he needs there. Not agile enough.

If Man United don't sign anyone it might not be a bad day for us.

Ozil signing for Arsenal is a big blow but Arsenal needed squad depth this Summer and Wenger hasn't provided it.

Arsenal do have a very good first XI - we knew this before Ozil - now they have an even better first XI but they still have key weaknesses to exploit (our squad will gel and hopefully exploit them next match).

I'm more annoyed about the fact Madrid sold Ozil to Arsenal in the first place. Wtf do we get out of this partnership with Real...

Well we did get a hell of a lot of money for Bale I suppose. Still would have liked Coentrao as part of the deal. That's the one signing I really wanted. Never mind.

And I agree Moorpheus and what I have been banging on about today. Arsenal have a great first 15 players but with a tough schedule they needed 4-5 big signings not 1 and a token couple of freebies.

I was hoping Carroll would get premiership football though. Still really surprised about our left back situation and Adebayor being at the club still. Is he injured?
