The few times I have Hulk (stupid name, let's be honest), I have been thoroughly unimpressed with his performances. I really do not believe he will add anything to what we have. I don't want him at Spurs for the money he will cost us. Lamela, yes, every day of the week.
It wasn't clear, but in case you weren't sure: lamela is a baldini signing, not AVB. Signed him for Roma and must know him pretty well
Apparently we've made an offer for eriksen. http://www.football-oranje.com/tottenham-begin-eriksen-bidding/
What do you think of Eriksen Roo? Worth signing? ;-) If we signed Eriksen, Lamela and Chiriches I would be over the moon. Then just need AVB and Benny to make up and we would be well set.
A Romanian colleague reliably informs me Chiriches is pronounced kiri-kesh. He says he's a young skilful player but questions the price we are paying. Chiriches has a bit of a reputation with the women so JD might not be too happy with his arrival. Let's hope it's not his team mates women otherwise the Chavs might gazump us again. It kinda fits their MO.
Didn't Mido play for Ajax? Just saying.. Agree though Roo for the equivalent of about £13 million there aren't many players better that are available especially with the current value of players in this transfer window.
I would be going hard for both Erikson and Lamela on the chance we lose out on one, and that if we don't, at worst we can probably get our money back on one. Another CB is nice, but we need another LB more. At this point CAM/playmaker looks like our big weakness, which Erikson and/or Lamela address (though Holtby deserves a try, and nothing may be very clear for another month or two, when our collection of players becomes more of a team). But our little weakness is fullback. So far Walker and Rose haven't been bad. They're good enough, and fast enough, not to drag down the level of the team. But they're not quite as good as the other starters. I doubt Chiriches is meant to free Jan up to play LB, but that wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. Jan getting forward more will add goals.
I'm a huge fan of Eriksen, I keep up to date with Ajax as much as possible and he really is a special player, but with the amount of midfielders we've bought this window on top what we already have, where would he AND Lamela fit in? We've got Sandro, Capoue, Paulinho, Dembele, Holtby, Sigurdsson and Carroll already competing for the 3 CM positions. With Chadli, Lennon and Townsend (and Sig if you like) vying for the 2 wing/ wing forward spots. Adding Lamela will likely mean Lennon/ Townsend dropping to the bench which is fair enough but adding Eriksen... Who gets dropped? It's a nice headache to have a lot of good players fighting for positions but there gets to a point where there's too many in my opinion and I think adding Eriksen would reach that point. It'd be nearly impossible to keep all of them happy unless AVB continuously rotated the squad in League games. It's all well and good saying they can get plenty of game time in cup matches but cup matches aren't what these sort of players only want to be part of. Unless of course we could be seeing one of Holtby/ Sig depart and a Carroll loan?
I've mentioned it a few times mate, but I think there's going to be a couple of surprising exits. If both come in, I'm gonna put it out there now and say we'll sell Lennon and Sig. - a big statement I know, but both will fetch good money. I love Lennon, but his game hasn't progressed over the last couple of years and whilst we can get good money for him, I think he could be a likely candidate. If eriksen is signed, at least one of sig Carroll and holtby won't be needed. Holtby was only signed 6 months ago, and sig didn't exactly impress last season. Sig to be sold and Carroll to go out on loan (possibly). IMO.
2 DMs: Sandro/Capoue 2 Box to box (sort of): Paul/Dembele 4 Wingers: Lennon/Chadli/Townsend/Lamela 2 "playmakers": Sig/Eriksen Up and coming: Holtby/Carroll Its not _that_ heavy imo, although i think one of Holtby/Sig might go in january if not this week, which one will depend on how the coaching staff see them.
All top teams have this luxury of quality in depth. If we want to be a real top 4 team , this is the way. Our weakness has been the replacements for injured players being sub standard ( Thudd, Livermore, Parker, Ade in last year etc ) Lamela , Eriksen would add at last some creativity which has been the missing link . Players will be played on merit and grab their chance such as Townsend. If Carrroll is good enough then he will eventually rise to the top , at the moment he is far off the players in front of him. Sig is technically inferior and should be sacrificed. This is how a "big club " works.
