Real Madrid have been leading the chase to sign Bale all summer, but in a new twist to the transfer saga they face competition for the Welshman's signature. Reports in Spain over the weekend suggested Real were finally edging nearer to sealing a world record deal for Bale with Tottenham reportedly ready to do a deal with the Spanish giants. However, it has now emerged that no deal has been agreed between Tottenham and Real and that the White Hart Lane club are weighing up offers from other clubs. Spurs are resigned to losing Bale and now they are believed to be considering offers from another club as well as Real Madrid. Manchester United have been credited with an interest in Bale, but it remains to be seen if David Moyes' side are the ones who have enterted the race for the 24-year-old. Bale has missed Tottenham's opening two Premier League wins over Crystal Palace and Swansea with a minor injury and Andre Villas-Boas admitted after Sunday's game with Swansea that he wanted the saga to be resolved this week.

I don't believe that Levy would ever countenance selling Bale to any Premiership rival. If a rival bid(s) have come in, then PSG are the first name that springs to mind. Not too many could afford the asking price. Personally, I think there may well be a rival bid and Levy is using that as a lever on Real to put up or shut up.
Agreed, this is most likely. That, and the fact that we could be experiencing 1 or 2 issues with our own signings and need to buy a bit more time before we sell.
More fun and games this week in the window. My 'realistically ideal' scenario would be to keep Bale, get another keeper and Vlad in, and another striker to replace one of Ade/JD. If Bale goes, then add a Bale' replacement' to that lot.

What a saga this has been! I thought AVB was being cute when he said, after yesterday's game, that he didn't know what was happening with Bale, and that seems to have been the absolute truth.
