He's got a 30% sell-on fee (at least according to Football Manager...), so we'd need a bid of £1.4m to make a profit.

I'm completely with Tottenham Jamspurs on this. If Carroll and Townsend are good enough then they will play. The competition for places in the team will be a higher standard than we have had for years, maybe ever, and we will soon see if Carroll and Townsend are as good as we hope they can be.
Also I am going to get excited about these new signings before they play for us, surely you have to be, these are marquee signings. There is a reason why clubs are willing to pay £20 million plus for these players as they are proven at the highest level. I don't see people knocking on our door offering this sort of money for our youngsters. This isn't a dig at them as they may well make it to the same level, however right now they aren't.
I have been desperate for us to show real intent like this for years. This transfer window is like all my christmas and birthdays have come at once.

    Front page updated for Parker

Hoping to put Willian on it soon and maybe even Lamela too...

I'll await official confirmation on Falque though.

Here's what I want to happen for the rest of the window:

    In:

    Willian
    Lamela
    Coentrao
    A CB
    Another striker if Adebayor/JD go

    Out:

    BAE
Adebayor (prefer to keep JD as impact sub)
Gomes (although part of me thinks we'll keep him as Archer is not first team standard imo - nor is Gomes but hey ho)
Bale (we're building a better team than last year and his sale will fund it almost fully)
One or two of the younger midfielders to go out on loan.

Townsend might get a chance tomorrow night, Lennon (and Verts) haven't travelled

That would be perfect Moorpheus. We are Spurs though, can we have such good things happen to us?!

So, as its likely the new defender will be chiriches, who is the new striker going to be?

Imagine a deadline day deal for Benteke!

If Carlsberg did transfer windows... <laugh>

Well Madrid are seemingly struggling for cash so I'd take coentrao and morata off them :)
    Plus maybe £60m?

Well said CJ. We Spurs fans are so used to disappointment that it's hard to shake old habits. If you have been a Spurs supporter for years you get used to having a good old moan. How long have we all been complaining about the lack of 'NEW STRIKER' now he's here plus a posse of highly regarded mates it's very hard for some to switch to be glass half full guys.

We will still retain our stances whether that is optimist or pessimist until the results start coming on the pitch. I think GEL will be a word we use quite a lot in the first few games. Plus if we all agree this board will become a very dull place. It's good that we will keep each others feet on the ground until the players feet start proving us wrong or right.

Nevertheless, adopting my usual stance <party>

Cheers Spurf. Being a spurs fan for the last 20 years or so I have been used to disappointments but this really is the best time I can ever remember and we have to enjoy it and be optimistic (I know you will be!) I'm fed up of being in Arsenal's shadow. They have rightly had the bragging rights for years but finally it really does look like we are assembling a team and squad better than theirs. Whether it will be is all hypothetical but I am so chuffed with our club for what they are doing. Fans of other clubs are looking on in envy and I'm loving it!

I know they haven't signed anyone, but don't write them off; they've still got a pretty handy team to be honest. Agree with your comments though <ok>

Re signings, for some reason the one that gave me the biggest buzz was van der vaart. I went flippin nuts when we signed him. They're 2 a penny now <laugh>

I have to say I'm nearly at the point where I not only expect Bale to go but I want him to go.

That's crazy talk I know considering his image and what he's done for us but, purely looking at Spurs as a team, I think it's the right decision.

Let's face it - after the new year, we were crap nearly every game and it was taking Bale's goals every week to win by a margin of 1 (his goal). Everything had to go through him because he was the only one playing awesome. I think we can be a better team this season with the inbounds (plus we've lost so much of the deadwood this Summer - it's pretty much just BAE, Adebayor and Gomes left).

Do you guys think Bale will do well at Madrid?

I personally think he is going to seriously flop if he goes.
