I remember seeing a closeup of Beni talking to AVB which could have been a poster labeled "Breakdown in Communications." You could see, I thought, they were just barely managing to stay civil. Remember, Walker didn't seem too happy either. I think AVB may expect a lot from his fullbacks in terms of getting all the way forward and all the way back, and Beni feels that as an established pro he should be allowed to play more as he sees fit.
Villas-Boas has mentioned Fryers in a lot of his interviews too RWAEB, so I think he might be looking to use the youngster in the cups at least, with Rose as a starter. That's assuming that this whole Coentrao thing comes to nothing.

As much as I like Benny as a character and want him in ahead of Rose, if that is true he only has himself to blame as this isn't Sunday league football where you wind up your manager for a laugh, theres a time and place for certain things at this level.

Looks like we dodged a bullet with his disciplinary problems - plus he was valued at around £8-9m when we were linked to him earlier in the summer, yet he left for £15m which looks a little suspect to me.
Rumours have us negotiating with Roma, but for Lamela and/or Pjanic. Even if we did move for Osvaldo, I doubt he'd want to join a club where he'd probably be benched.
So Southampton have spent a net £35million, and this is their second season in the prem. What a disaster waiting to happen
