I don't know anything about lamela, but everyone is raving about him. I've watched video's of him on youtube and he looks good, but I'm struggling to see how we need him if bale stays?

We've got Townsend, Chadli and Bale who can play on both sides, and Lennon for the right.

From what I've seen, Lamela is a right sided Forward. I don't get the need, so if someone could tell me what he offers us, I'd love to find out more.

    interesting.

verts to left back with vlad and kaboom at cb ? I know he's not as good at lb as cb, but i'd still rather have him there than rose.

if we signed this lamela and the croatian lad as well then we would have to be considered a threat for the title i'd have thought.

I know it's a bit daft putting 3 players down in a team who you don't own, but this wouldn't be bad :

    --------------lloris

    walker kaboul chiriches verts

    ------paulinho sandro

    -----------halilovic

    townsend soldado lamela

friedel, rose, capoue, dembele, chadli, carroll, defoe

    !!!!!!!!!!

I'd really only see chelsea and man city being able to compete with that.

saying that though, i don't see the halilovic deal coming off, even if the other 2 do.

I ****ing HATE wasting my time going to the doctors to be told to take ibuprofen (which i shouldn't take on account of asthma) or told to "wait 2-4 weeks" and come back having already explained i waited months before going in.
Your better off just using google, ****ing useless GPs.

Was it diclofenac? That **** is NASTY

30m euro youngster? He'd be sat on the bench? There's no way he's coming in a World Cup year and no way we'd buy him for such a role. I understand it would give him time to adjust but just no. The only thing would be if he could play on the left? Or through the middle. I know he scores goals, but how creative is he? Ie could he play in the 3 in the middle of a 4-3-3???

Coentrao deal will be kept from us until there's no chance of bale going to Madrid.
Chiriches? I like the sound of that.
Carroll needs game time more than he needs anything else. Game time in prem would be ideal but if not a regular starter in a promotion fighting team would be a decent enough trade.

Not sure, but I certainly felt like it a few times. Especially in the middle of the night when you accidentally roll over onto the busted ribs. Tends to wake you up rather fast!..

Very quick and good at dribbling from the little i've seen of him.
We don't strictly _need_ him, but why not? We don't _need_ Bale, but that doesn't mean we should sell him.
If he adapts he's a different league to Townsend/Chadli/Lennon and could blossom into one of the best players in the world a-la-Bale

I don't think he'd be on the bench tbh.

Might not be a bad idea, actually. Playing alongside Parker every week might be good for him.

Well who would he replace if bale stays? He can only play right wing and at a push support striker. I think it's just one stage too far for now

Amount of Mids we've been linked with now is going slightly OTT even for my liking. Lamela, Eriksson, Pjanic... As much as all three are class players, where do we fit them and existing players in?

you've gotta be ruthless if you want to improve. I love Lennon but he doesn't provide enough goals and his final ball is still not good enough to play in a 3. I think either of those SoS mentioned could be put in the team at the expense of Sig or Lennon.

If we were to sign him and keep Bale, which seems incredibly unlikely, then I'd expect him to play on the right of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1 and Bale to move into the middle of the 3.
More likely that he'd be a replacement though, I'd have thought.

No doubt better than Sig or Lennon but it's more of a case of who gets dropped from the starting line up.

At present, I'd say (providing all fit) our midfield would be:

    Paulinho, Sandro
    Bale, Dembele, Chadli

All of them, plus any new addition would be looking for first team football. Trying to keep too many egos happy could become a problem.

The prospect of having Chadli, Halilovic and Lamela....all potential world stars is very exiting. What are the chances Madrid could afford to nick all of them of us!

I think after the cost of Berbs utd were put off buying our players
hopefully now having bought Modric and seeing the Bale price Madrid might be too.

I don't understand what you mean here? Do you not think it's an insane amount of money for someone who's not a necessity?

    I agree.

with the sales/loans of Parker, Livermore, Hudd and Carroll, we've got 6 left.

Paulinho, Sandro, Capoue, Sig, Holtby, Dembele.

Despite there still being 6 there's still something missing.

I really hope we get Halilovic though, this kid seems to be the next superstar of the future generation, getting him would arguably be our biggest coup in a long while.

Well, my point is that nobody is a necessity. We finished 5th without Soldado last year but we're all banging on about the need for a striker. We need the creativity, this guy has it, he's only 21 and in all likelihood his value will increase. He _could_ become one of the best (like Halilovic who i know nothing of) so spending the money doesn't seem as insane as perhaps in 3 years saying something akin to "we could have signed Bale for £20m but chose not to".
We have a lot of mids, that is definitely true, but if the opportunity to acquire a TOP class talent arises then we'd be silly to turn our noses up at it, especially in our position (eg, no CL) and if he is already better than what we have (even if what we have is already very good)

Like we keep saying, Bale is irreplaceable unless we sign Messi/Ronaldo which is a zero possibility. The best chance we have of filling a Bale-sized hole is to bet big on someone like Lamela. Having them both for a season at least means Lamela would not have the tag "new bale", which would suck for him.
