With the way prices have been rising I'd say he's no more expensive than Bale was. Also I think someone said before that he will only make the move next season so it could be that we're not paying anything for him until then or that he's coming out of next year's budget.

Good info Roo, excellent work!

That's positive about Gylfi and Jermain. I dont want us to sell either of them. I'm not that bothered about Alderwierled as I would prefer we signed Eriksen. If we could sign both then great.
What is going on with the Capoue deal. If he doesn't wnat to sign for us then he can p*ss off and sign for soemone else!!

I don't know if i've read this correctly, as sometimes it's hard to detect one's tone over text. - were you hinting at the fact that we already have Tom Carroll or have I read into that too much? If not, Halilovic seems different to Carroll. He makes quick runs with the ball from deep areas and gains a lot of ground before making a pass or shooting.

cheers buddy. <ok>

I'd like to see someone like Alderwiereld. Not necessarily him, but a player of similar age/ability/potential.

I still don't believe he's going to Moscow. - Not with the prem interest in him. Players in the dutch league seem quite grounded and want to move for footballing reasons.

once upon a time, this source used to be reliable.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ian-eriksen-says-no-transfer-talks-being-held

This situation seems very similar to the transfer of Vertonghen, and what we used to read in reports at the time.

I might sound optimistic, but I'm reading into this as follows:

Spurs are keen and he's been a potential target for some time. (up to a year and a half when we were first interested in verts)
AVB has asked Verts what he's like as a lad.
Obviously Verts has spoke highly of him.
We've therefore spoken to Ajax, but know that having dealt with them over Vertonghen transfer, we could work the negotiations in our favour, similar to Vertonghens.
Eriksen knows there's interest from us, Has been in regular contact with Verts and is keen to move.
Eriksen has made the comments as the transfer window closes shortly, and he's hoping something more concrete will come to fruition.
We need to work on shifting some deadwood to make space for him, before making an official offer.

Also, Alen Halilovic's Wiki page says he plays for us already! Think someone might have got a bit excited there...

Fair enough, we'll what transpires by the end of the window. I'm hoping we stop being run as a business and start being run more on the lines of a vanity project. If we continue to be run as a business, then unfortunately I think we'll continue to be outperformed by the Big 3 and probably Arsenal too.

Fair comment, we're still nowhere near City's level of spend, but we've been nowhere near City'a level of achievement over the past three seasons either.

Hi NSS, the attribution to GBS is in my post, actually. I think you should try reading it more carefully. And actually, it's an anecdotal story, attributed to various sources, actually <ok>

Re Halilovic, from the You Tube clips, he's a very different player to Carroll, and far more exciting. I'd say he's a class above Carroll already, and may well be a superstar in the making, which TC definitely isn't, IMHO.

Carroll might realistically make it in the Prem, Halilovic might realistically win the CL or La Liga one day, maybe even the Prem. Only a guess on my part of course, may be well wrong on this.

Anyway, I would love us to buy him, again it would show real ambition on ENIC's part, and them getting away from spending our money to spending some of their own.

Agreed Halilovic looks class and I also don't understand the Carroll hype. He's a decent prospect but doubt he'll ever become anything more than a Jonjo Shelvey. Im not comparing the way they play, more the way I think he'll get a few games for us but not make the grade and be moved on to an ambitious lower premier league team (ala Swansea)

just when you thought that our transfer business showed the progress we were making... up pops a typical "THFC bargain" <doh>

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...enham-weigh-shock-5m-Watford-Troy-Deeney.html

AVB weighs up shock move for £5m Deeney just a year after release from jail with Defoe set for exit

Troy Deeney has emerged as a shock £5million target for Tottenham. Spurs are weighing up a move for Watford’s powerful striker with Jermain Defoe set to follow Clint Dempsey out of White Hart Lane.

West Ham, who are among the bidders for Defoe, and Fulham are also showing a keen interest in the 25-year-old target man.

Deeney only a signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract at Watford in March, preventing one of the most prolific strikers in the Championship last season from walking away as a free agent this summer.

Deeney was sentenced to 10 months in prison for his part in an attack outside a Birmingham nightclub in the early hours of February 29.

He served a third of the sentence between June and September 2012.

The former Walsall player, who moved to Vicarage Road for £500,000 three years ago, scored 20 goals despite missing the first month of the season following his release prison after serving a third of a 10-month sentence for affray.

He hit the injury-time winner that sent Watford through to the Play-off Final at Wembley, although Gianfranco Zola’s team eventually lost out to Crystal Palace for a place in the Premier League.

Deeney has continued his rich vein of scoring this season with four goals in his first two games, including a hat-trick in Saturday’s 6-1 win over Bournemouth.

I can't see that happening after the way their fans treated him. Karma is a bitch eh?

I'd be happy with him as a 3rd or 4th choice striker for £5m. He's a class above the rest of the striker's in the Championship. Wouldn't start him ahead of Defoe or Ade though.

1 in 4 in a lower division and already 25. I'd rather give Kane a shot.

Scored 1 in 2 last year and 4 in 2 so far this year. It's abit deceptive linking his stats from anything before last year as Watford's team was horrendous. Since last year when Watford got some decent players around him he's been scoring for fun.

Kane's had a shot - and missed.

Did nothing for us in the times I have seen him, and did nothing at Norwich either.
He doesn't even look that great for the U21's.

When we were loaning people out Harry R. was saying players need to go and be the best at their new team if they want to play for us. Walker did it, Caulker did it, Rose did it and Naughton kind of did.
I just dont see what he offers.

Would love to be proved wrong though.

Was also pretty poor for Leicester.

Not saying I think Deeney is someone we should be chasing, just that for £5m he's a decent 4th choice and I'd be at least not be unhappy if he signed. I'm 99% sure that story is bullsh*t though, if we wanted to go for a Watford player from last season we'd have been looking at Vydra.

Yep, the Carroll hype escapes me too. Now Halilovic looks a prospect. I'd say he looks better than Modric potentially, but it's all guesswork of course.
