No offence intended here, but please get used to this silence on these matters from the club. As I have mentioned several times before, there is a complete lock down on all club staff yapping to the media.

When the club is ready to release information, it will do so.

    <ok>.

Agreed, it's been 1 working day since the deal was mooted, hardly cause for concern that it hasn't been announced as finalised yet. The club are clearly too busy putting the finishing touches to the Welsh Wizards new ten year contract.

It would be funny if Levy had sanctioned all this spending expecting a bale windfall only for nobody to bid. Great for us too

Christian eriksen has been speaking to vertonghen about spurs, but has said there's nothing concrete from us.

Eriksen - "Tottenham is a great club. This I know from Jan Vertonghen. It is a important club, which is interested (in myself)."

It's been much longer than one working day since the Capoue deal was mooted. I've known about it for what seems like a week now. I'll check the exact days, but it's definitely longer than since Saturday.

EDIT - Definitely known about since last Wednesday - maybe even before then.

Of course the deal hasn't been done since last Wednesday. As far as us outsiders know, it hasn't been done at all. It may have been, BUT if it has, that flies in the face of the club continually telling us that when a deal is done it's put straight up on the OS. Why would they change that policy, indeed why would they delay it all, if the deal was done?

All we need now is the Capoue deal to go through, sign Eriksen and Bale to sign a new contract and its job done. Simple really, they should put me on the board.

Well according to various ITK, it's not Levy but his 'boss' who is sanctioning the spending, and it's not dependent on the Bale money at all. It's new money (£50m) coming in from Joe Lewis, plus of course the extra TV money.

That makes approx £85m, so we've nowhere near spent that net so far. I make it our net spend is roughly £35m so far, so that leaves another £50m to spend before we even touch the 'Bale money'.

Incidentally, it's interesting that a lot of people are happy we're in the process of spending a lot more than we will earn, if that turns out to be the case. I thought a lot of people didn't want us to go down the Chelsea/City route.

Me I love it, and I've been advocating that we get a billionaire benefactor in for years. But the vast majority of people have argued against me on various forums. Well now, at long last maybe we have finally got our 'billionaire benefactor' and all congrats to Mr Lewis if that's the case.

It's quite hilarious though to see all this excitement in 'Spursdom' about us spending money, whereas when Chelsea or City do it, it's cheating, 'buying the title', etc.

Football fans, you gotta love 'em. (or not )

Personally I think we will sign Capoue maybe Coentrao and a defender. Can't see us signing any more midfielders unless Bale leaves of course.

Another striker would be a dream though especially if Ade leaves.

If we got Capoue, Coentrao and another CB in, provided no-one 'major' like Bale/Ade/Defoe leaves, I'd actually think of joining the 'title challengers' camp. I'd also want another back-up keeper too, assuming HG leaves. But boy what a squad we'd have.

And yet not a thing that I've noticed in the media about our squad build up, just BALE<BALE<BALE

I wouldn't disagree as SAF always referred to Spurs as one of the 5 teams who could win the league. But that was with a squad thinner in depth, but with more match winners (Bale, Modric, vdV, Defoe and an in form Adebayor). The current squad clearly has greater depth, but the big money signings are as yet unproven in the PL. Any title contenders need consistency and big game players who can seize opportunities when required. Bale is key to you winning the marginal games. Keeping Bale is essential if you are to step up to the next level, irrespective of whoever else is signed.

    Fair comment Spurf.

But in a sense that's quite good. We don't need the media to sell tickets for us, as we sell out anyway, for Prem games at least.

As it stands though, the signings many Spurs fans are dreaming of haven't materialised yet.

The 18 that will face Palace still won't be the stuff of title challenges for me.

Firstly, no Bale, I think that's pretty certain. Second, as each day passes, you have to think no Capoue, a real blow, for me anyway. I just have a good feeling about this guy, may be wrong, of course.

Third, there's still the nagging fear that the back four could be KW Daws Fryers Rose on Sunday.

that is wayyyyyyy short of title challenging, it's barely top 10 TBH, and could easily succumb to Palace, IMHO.

I think we have already signed more than most Spurs fans expected. It's not just selling tickets these days much of Spurs income relies on high profile, which is why Bale is so valuable and not just on the pitch.

    You worry too much JPG

    I'm one of those!
I've seen nothing so far to suggest we are spending Lewis' money. The tv cash and sales covers this summer. We had 2-3 windows of negative/even net transfer spends and a season in the CL where we didn't spend.
We could also spend money based on the expected sale of Bale which still wouldn't be Lewis' money. We'd have to get to £135m net spend before I thought Lewis' had his hand in his pocket, and even then the future sale of bale (next summer) would recoup that.

    Hope that makes sense

It's great this money is going on the squad and not in the stadium piggy bank though
