So, if the two gooners are the snidey ****wit known as Tim Sherwood and the head groundsman. ....who said Bale was??? Another thought here is about the "high profile transfer that didn't get over the line" looks like an ex gooner was overseeing that at the time...and he doesn't drive a mower!
I heard a few years ago that Defoe was a gooner. Glad thats been, presumably, beaten out of him in training
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA: Manchester United are ready to enter the race to sign Tottenham star Gareth Bale, 24, who is still wanted by Real Madrid. - The Independent Good luck Moysie, you got more chance of getting Fabregas
SSN are saying Hernandez is being offered, all well and good, but as Soldado found out Saturday, no good if you can't provide decent service.
I think I've wasted enough of my thoughts on this idea today already! There's more chance of Andy Reid walking past Greggs.
Agreed. Even if they could ind the money, I can't see that Levy would ever agree to sell Bale to them, or any Prem rival. The only possible chance they have is if they're prepared to let Levy nail their financial balls to the floor - again!...
SSN! like **** we're going to sell him to united. If anything, this is the 1 season where united could be vulnerable. They have a new manager, are yet to strengthen, and face losing Rooney, with time in the window ticking away. Man United are known for doing their transfer business early on, and are therefore prepared, but it's been different this summer. Bale's going to Madrid, or he's staying. - That's the 2 options. end of. Totally agree on service. We are desperate.
i wonder if its possible to get a clause that never allows him to play against us? That, plus Hernandez, plus £80m and we'll start discussions. Note: start.
The United thing is a non point of discussion Roo, but service most definetly is. I touched on some things in the Espanyol thread, but I think too many were blinded by individual bits of skill that while being pleasing on the eye, didn't have an end product. Chadli was highlighted for a good game, it wasn't bad, but how many crosses and throughballs did this winger put in? thats what he's bought for, not nutmegging and sidestepping one or two. I'm not saying he won't be a hit, but he is a 'provider' in the side and I didn't see much of that, which is what should be being noted instead of fancy footwork. From the responses my Espanyol post got, it looks like I was watching a different game...I don't think I was though.
Didn't see the game, but flare players can be tamed and made productive ie Ronaldo. I think it's much rarer for players to develope skills/flare....i can only think of one and he's now worth £105m - edit - Whilst I believe we should get 6pts from Palace and Swansea, this team will undoubtedly take time to gel. This squad has been well rotated in the last year due to injuries, and now with new players there will be a bedding in time. A draw against the goons / 7pts from our first three games would represent an excellent start.
Well United's interest might hurry Real up into meeting the asking price, at least. Can't see Bale going there but if he does go to Real then we need it done soon. SSN are pretty much United's mouth piece as much as Marca are Real's.
I said similar things, notso, in reply to spursguru (I think). I was basically saying how he didn't release the ball early enough and ran himself into congested areas, before eventually losing possession. - The decision making wasn't great, but then again it was his first game where he was clearly trying to impress, so i don't want to be too harsh. He looks pacey though, so he's gonna have to learn to get down that wing!! I think that'll come as he gets more confident with his new teammates. I'll say it again, IMO, the service is needed from a much more central area. Someone who can spot a run down the wing and release the likes of Chadli and Lennon, but who can also play those pinpoint throughballs to a striker who's hanging off the last defender. At the moment we seem to struggle to get our strikers to have any time on the ball. They are having to drop off or go wide to get the ball. They should be able to find themselves in a central position peeling off of the defenders to give themselves half a yard to shoot. But it's not been happening for some time. Hence why Bale was shooting from about 25-30 yards all the time last season!
The answer to this central creativity question could already lie within our ranks - Lewis Holtby. In the midfield '3' in a 4-3-3 or as a no.10 he could definitely do that job for us I feel. He did it for Schalke and the German U21s. I'm of course not opposed to us bringing in exciting talent like Eriksen or whoever to solve that issue but at the same time we have some good talent like Holtby in the squad and it would be a real shame, in my opinion, not to back him to make an impact in a position he has quite a lot of playing time in already. Roo and others I share your opinion on Chadli vs Espanyol but as you have rightly said, he has the flair aspect which is much harder to coach/teach. He'll get to where he needs to be I don't doubt because he clearly has some talent there, he just needs to be coached what to do in certain situations. Or maybe played on the right so he doesn't cut inside.
Injured apparently. I hope Holtby can prove himself, but we saw little from him last year. My thoughts might often seem a little harsh to Sig and Holtby, but i just want to make it clear that it's not that I don't think they're pretty decent players. - it's that neither are capable of replacing Bale and we're yer to see whether either of them can replace the void left by VDV and Modric. My comments are based on the fact that I don't know if we can risk it. Sig has had a fair amount of time and IMO, he's not capable of stepping up to the level we need. - But a very good squad player all the same. I guess my question is: Do you feel comfortable going into the season with those two as our play makers, and are they up to the challenge of providing the team with what VDV and Modric offered? yes/no ? (I'm not including Bale in that, as I expect us to spend big to replace him if he leaves.)
