"If they need to offload players to avoid paying a measly £12m how the hell do they expect to buy Bale?" Some ITKs are suggesting their obsession with getting Bale whenever + the Modric money owing is being used by Spurs as leverage in a current (separate) deal to get Coentrao.
The old saying that "the grass isn't always greener". He's hardly unhappy at spurs, so if I was in his shoes I'd be tempted to stay if I was happy, unless an offer from someone like Bayern, Barca, Dortmund or United came in. They are appealing teams for different reasons. ( obviously Dortmund couldn't afford him, but still, they are an appealing club) When you're as good as Bale and you've got options, it just surprises me that he's interested in Real right now. Out of the top clubs, they'd be the last one I would choose right now. It's not deluded to say that IMO. Obviously real are a far far bigger club than us, but like I say, he's got it good here. Leaving for them right now would be a strange decision IMO. If mourinho was still there, fair enough, but I'd be worried about a decline, especially with the uncertainty over Ronaldo too.
If a footballer had half a brain this would be a worry. Its one thing bearing the weight of being the worlds most expensive player ever but then there's a whole load more when you are Ronaldo's replacement with him just having come off the back of scoring the same number of goals in 1 season as you have in your entire top division career (true fact, 55) Ronaldo's stats are amazing, and not just how prolific he is: League: 34 in 34 Cup: 7 in 7 Europe: 12 in 12 Other: 2 in 2. Freaky The guy has scored 200 goals in 4 seasons. So he AVERAGES twice as many as Bale's best ever season. Suddenly the transfer fee seems a bit ridiculous. Before you say its a different league, his last, slightly poor, season at Utd yielded 26 goals, the same as Bale. The one before he got 42. Still, £125m please Perez
Maybe the "special relationship" entitled them to a tottenham hotspur credit card? Perhaps they plan to do a "DFS" on us. - buy now and pay nothing for the first 4 years!
http://www1.skysports.com/football/...rld-record-85m-bid-for-spurs-star-garath-bale Still no quotes but this is the first time Sky have stuck their neck and said that they believe there is definetely an offer on table. £85m all cash - I'd take it now as it seems more and more like Bale wants to leave. On another note - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23505733 Are Norwich just planning on outscoring everyone this season? Quagriella, Van Wolfswinkel and Hooper is a very good front 3 for a bottom half team.
for bale but spurs say he is not for sale Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth has brought us another update on the Gareth Bale transfer saga and it is big news⦠It is our understanding there is a world-record bid of over £85m pounds on the table from Real Madrid - and it has been on the table for over a week. The bid does not include any players going from the Bernebeu to White Hart Lane. We also understand Bale is aware of the offer and is becoming more and more frustrated with the situation. We've been told chairman Daniel Levy is currently in Miami and that the club's stance hasn't changed. Bale is not for sale.
If he's not for sale then surely the bid is no longer on the table. Its been brushed off the table and into the bin? I highly doubt Spurs have been sitting on it for a week, where is the sense in that?
No offence Gary but did this really require a new thread? It's the same old **** regurgitated again for the umpteenth time!
http://www1.skysports.com/football/...madrids-iker-casillas-backs-gareth-bale-chase Interesting take on why Real want Bale. Nothing to do with football, more to do with marketing and keeping up with the Jones'. I would not sign for them if i was Bale.
We all know Bale is making the wrong choice. Unfortunately it feels more and more likely that he is going to find out the hard way.
Just out of curiosity that is vaguely related but probably not worth its own thread. If you were playing for, say, Swansea this season, and earning £70k a week and had the skill / reputation of Messi / Ronaldo / Bale and a big club came in and had a bid accepted for you (but they wanted to keep you) and offered to give you £150,000 a week instead - would you move? I have always maintained that if I had the talents of a messi / ronaldo and played for Swansea I would rather go down as an absolute club LEGEND than have more money in the short term. When you're dead money is no good to you and you will simply be one of many great players to play for "that big club". Where as if you were to stay at a smaller club, like Swansea, you would live on after you die as a hero in the eyes of all their fans.
Assuming that this story is true, then it's pretty funny that Levy's dismissed the bid as soon as it's been made. How many chairmen out there would do the same to a world record amount, almost regardless of who was being chased? Perhaps Real's Marca grandstanding has backfired horribly and they've pushed Bale's value through the roof?
Maybe Levy will wangle in a "buy back for peanuts" clause? Real Madrid are SO cock-sure and arrogant that they might well go for it. £80m for a season-long loan sounds ok to me.
I think that would depend upon the ambitions of the club, TJ. I understand what you mean, though. Must be something special to he heralded as a club's favourite player.
I always admired him for that. And the southampton fans used to (still do?) worship him. If he had gone elsewhere he may have won a medal or 2, he may not have, but i'm pretty sure he wouldn't have been idolised as much by either set of fans. Those players are gone though. We had King, but lets not kid ourselves, if he had knees he would have gone.
Dismissed the bid as soon as its been made....................and then gone on holiday it seems. Legend. Probably turned his mobile off too, roaming charges and all that
