I didn't know JFH was at Antwerp. I wonder if any English clubs were interested in Bostock. Maybe not as he seems to have acquired a big time Charlie reputation. Unfairly in my view, but I do hope he gets his career back on track, as he is genuinely a really nice bloke.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/8819197 another one bites the dust. "Serie A outfit Roma have pipped Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Dinamo Zagreb starlet Tin Jedvaj. Spurs were believed to be keen on adding the 17-year-old centre-back to their ranks, but have been left empty-handed. Instead, Jedvaj is set to embark on a new adventure in Italy. Roma will complete the deal once they have received the necessary clearance from UEFA. A statement released by Dinamo on their official website read: "Dinamo and Roma have agreed all the details of a move for Tin Jedvaj to the Italian club. "The agreement has been found on Wednesday in Rome by sporting director Zoran Mamic. "Dinamo and Roma agreed to the move of the player, who has remained in Rome. "It is only missing international authorisation, which usually takes a couple of days. The two clubs have agreed on everything."
I also wish Huddlestone the best, and regret losing him, especially for 5 million. I had the feeling he could have won some games for us this year, if we'd known how and when to use him. (Consider the Man City and Man U home games this year.) We have to sell since we're buying, but that's one that I think won't be worth it. As for Dempsey going...I can't make up my mind. There was something underwhelming about him, but he scored at a better rate than (EDIT!) anyone but (MORON!) Bale, and is a better fit, I think, in a 4-3-3. It also is a little surprising we'd sell an American this year.
Latest on Haliovic - He WILL be coming apparently, but just not yet. (same twitter sources) So, I expect that means he'll be purchased, but won't be joining us right away. (similar to what we'd already heard)
Christian Tello looks to be a non-starter - Barca offering him a contract where his release clause increases from the current £8.5m to £26m, meaning we'd probably have to guarantee first team football and give him a significant wage bump to stop him signing that deal, and neither are likely.
It's been quiet on him for some time, unfortunately. I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised with some of the youngsters we've been linked to this summer. We might have tried and failed with a couple already, but it does seem that AVB has got an eye for some good talent. So far, all i've seen is good feedback on anyone that we've been interested in. We might be punching above our weight slightly (or perhaps not) by looking at these Barca and Real youngsters, but they all seem to have glowing references. It feels like we have a really exciting summer ahead of us in terms of transfers.
Why? Cos of the World Cup? Agree about Huddlestone. Put simply he's a player who can still offer the club something (as you say he changed the game against City). I can think of a good handful of players that I'd let go ahead of him. In today's climate 5m might look like a very decent price for him. (Mind you I remember saying the same about O'Hara...) At least the poor bastard's not going to Stoke. Who knows, though - maybe he'll turn down Sunderland's offer and do a Dawson.
Because NBC's new TV deal involves showing more live Premier League matches in the US than ever before and they're rolling out a big ad campaign for it. I assume it'd benefit us if one of the best American footballers was playing for us. I always thought it would be cruel to sell him if we got CL football as that's what he came for but since we're in the Europa League I don't really mind either way. I still think we should look to sell Sigurdsson first though as he'd get a bigger fee and I'm not convinced he'll get to the level we want.
I've read Spurs are offering Villa a choice of Benny,Parker ,Livermore or Thudd, plus 20 million for Benteke
I'm not that much down on Benny,just don't think he's a top 4 defender,if he's stay's i will back because he's a Spurs player,and put my opinion of him to one side,and cringe everytime his concentration wander's
Same (though I like him and believe he is the best LB I have seen at the Lane.) Also goes for Defoe, Dempsey, Thud and now Parker who looked completely out of sorts last year, trying to do too much and failing.
Ha ha fair play Tots can't argue with that! All I want is another striker signed I don't care about any other positions as I think we are ok although if a signing like a Paulinho comes up I won't complain.
What does anyone think the likelihood of something that specific and confidential being known and true? Goodness I'd love to be a sports "journalist", just make up anything vaguely plausible and on the 1 in 10 (or probably a lot less) occasions you are near the mark republish your original article letting people know how ITK you are! What a job!
Most of what the papers say is such bollocks. They have to fill space so they make things up or regurgitate old stories. I don't buy newspapers anymore I just read the gossip columns and jut pick the stories I like the look of not the clearly bullshit ones!
Defoe is in the paper today urging the club to sign some strikers,he said the P/L winners always have about 4 strikers whch is what you need to win
