that's easier said than done. racial abuse or any form of abuse for that matter, is not worth any money, IMO. especially when he could drop his wages by £50kp/w tops, and play for a lot of other clubs. Oh... and still be on £100k a week. - how would he survive?! <laugh>

fair point on excessive buying just to stop others, though. Good job Levy's adopted his policy of selling abroad to try and balance that out! <ok>

(he says, just as Mourinho takes over at Chelsea, bringing Modric back with him. <laugh>)

maybe he'll "do a modric/berbatov" in order to work with AVB again. Unlikely, but not totally impossible

Yeah I suppose others react differently but me personally, I'm quite thick-skinned so verbal abuse doesn't bother me in the slightest, whether it be racial or not.

Yeah I have huge respect for Levy, I think he gets a bit of a raw deal from Spurs fans at times, don't get me wrong I along with every other Yid wanted a striker in Summer/ Jan and was disappointed he didn't bring anyone in but he's done brilliant for us IMO, even if he can be a little frustrating at times!

Haha that wouldn't surprise me mate, it's so blatant Mourinho is going back there.

Maybe Hulk will go on strike to force a move to Spurs like Modric attempted with Chelsea and succeeded with Real and Berba did with Utd.

Now i've written it a 2nd time i sounds utterly ridiculous. I've had a coffee since the first one too.

Knowing Levy though, he's probably got something written into that contract stating that Modric can never be sold to a premier league team! <laugh> Imagine...

Not ridiculous at all mate, you made sense! Keep going with those coffee's! <laugh>

if anyone needs central midfielders less than us its Chelsea. Mourinho has benched Modric most the time, can't see him being that desperate to bring him with him

    Roo :

That would be "restraint of trade" , but I suspect that there are a ream of
Levy clauses in that contract that get as close as possible to the same end
effect without breaking EU employment law.

There must be "rival clauses" in these contracts though! Or we're left completely unguarded. Could be something along the lines of: sell on fee - 40% given to spurs in the event he's sold to an english based team, otherwise only 10%

thats interesting RDBD, does that mean the clause in my work contract that i can't go to a competitor or customer is there purely for intimidation and it isn't enforcable?

I think it depends upon what your job is, Spurm. If you're in a senior position and you have access to sensitive information, then you it's an acceptable clause, as long as there's a time limit on it.
If not, then it appears to be unenforceable.

i'm not senior (that i know of) and i don't have sensitive information other than the inner workings of software systems. Does that count?

Edit - ignore, way off topic

    Spurm :

    Some clauses are enforceable.
Some are put in for "intimidation" and will get thrown out of court.

    Quick example :

When I work via agencies, 'cannot work via anyone else for the client for 12 months'
will get thrown out. But the muppets still put it in even though I tell em there is reams
of case law restricting to 6 months max (they often say "well everyone else puts it in" ) .

So if Levy is as vindictive as me, he would have had his boys going thru all the
appropriate possibilities to prevent a Modric return to the PL for at least 2 seasons. :)

"i don't have sensitive information other than the inner workings of software systems"

Boasting about knowing how the OS web site works (sic) is more a matter of shame than
    empowerment. :D

I would be quite confident of Bale staying as he has publicly stated he doesn't want to leave.
Also he doesn't have tosspot of an agent crying to the media about his dream move!

Bale rarely speaks to the media from what i've seen. I'm not even sure i'd heard him talk before this season.
