Because Adebayor isn't a very good player? If you find his foot or his head wherever he is stood he will score goals, but he is lazy and unintelligent when it comes to making runs - how many times did we see Ade offside, or stood at the edge of the box when he should be sniffing around the 6 yard box / penalty spot. Also his positioning is atrocious. Benteke and Cisse were making all the runs and often in perfect goalscoring positions for villa and Newcastle last year but neither team had players with the ability to pick a pass or recognize the runs, which Dembele, Lennon, Bale and Sandro (and Paulinho?) are good at. In short - if Ade played with the desire, intelligence, positioning and well times runs that Cisse and Benteke naturally do, then he would have scored bucket loads. _______________________________________________________________________ **Edit** Spelling / Wrong words all over place (Way to go iphone predictive text)
None of which happened in the first half of the season, so I don't agree the reasoning at all, not one bit, plus, Benteke was also in a worse side that remained below Toon for most of the season, I used Cisse as one example of a one season wonder. No matter what you put, you will not change the fact that this does happen more often than not. I've not said anywhere that Benteke is a bad player, I've seen what everyone else has, I just think the price put on his head for a dozen good games in the PL is laughable and I hope we don't pay it.
Maybe we should go for Higian,i was talking to a couple of gooner mates at work and they don't think them he will be joining them
Have the club lost their ****ing mind sending Pritchard on loan to a League 1 side? The guy needs to be playing Championship, possibly even a bottom half Prem side but League 1 is an absolute joke in my opinion. Bad move Spurs, very bad move.
We're using Swindon as a halfway house for our youngsters at the moment - Hall and Luongo already there, with Pritchard joining them. We had several players there last season - Bostock, Byrne, Luongo, Parrett - and they reached the play-offs, so the logic seems to be they will develop a winning mentality if they go there and help Swindon achieve promotion, and they're pretty much guaranteed to play plenty of games.
Considering our record of signing strikers we've been linked with is around 0/100 the last year or so, I'm thinking no. Everyone's a gamble, and everyone aside from the top half dozen is a big gamble. Benteke looks like a better gamble than most. He did only have one good year, but he's young, so that might be expected. He also did it in the Prem, and doesn't have much injury history. It is an excellent point, though, about taking a player who's already behaved in a way we don't like. You couldn't complain if the two options were him scoring 25 and jetting off to Real, or scoring three. We do need somebody, though, who has at least a decent chance of having a good year next year. My thoughts about the front three have led me to reflect I don't trust the 4-3-3. Not surprising since all I've really known is the 4-2-3-1 and the 4-4-2. I will say we may have better players for a 4-2-3-1 at this point despite the addition of Paulinho. Lennon is a quality right winger, and Defoe and Gylfi looked good at times in that formation. With Bale and Lennon we had two quality players out of the four, wheras in the -3 it's down to one, and Bale would be playing in a new role. (#1 rule of strategy: never change a winning game).
With the following exceptions: * Celtic will win the SPL * Porto will win the Portuguese Premier League * Dinamo Zagreb will win the Prva HNL * FC Copenhagen will win the Danish Superliga * A team from Istanbul will win the Turkish Premier League * One of Barca or Real Madrid will win La Liga * One of Dinamo Kyiv or Shakhtar Donetsk will win the Ukrainian Premier League * One of Juventus or the Milan clubs will win Serie A * One of Chelsea or the Manchester clubs will win the Premier League That also pretty much confirms the Champions League places in each of those leagues - that's a lot of certainty. On top of that... * Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Young and Frank Lampard will blatantly dive, yet not get pillored for it * Gareth Bale will be booked for being blatantly fouled * Come their first defeat of the season, David Moyes will get crucified by the fans * Jose Mourinho will be classless in victory and even worse in defeat * Arsene Wenger will not have a clear view of half a dozen incidents * Howard Webb will appear to be refereeing a different match to the one he's been assigned to
I would steer clear of ALL Real players. Any deal for one of them will have the Bale transfer plastered all over it (if only by the Daily Mail). We should just steer well clear of them altogether. We don't get anything from "the relationship" as far as i can tell so we should just leave them be
I'm not quite as angry as you but I do agree Still, I can understand if some Championship clubs were reluctant to give him a chance as he's so small and in a physical league. At least at Swindon we know they'll play him as they have a good record of giving our loan players games.
Swindon is a good club for any of our youngsters. They've always played good football regardless of the manager. The crowd are loyal and turn out in decent numbers for league 1, even during the bad weather. Our youngsters will get more confident, play regularly and develop well. Don't panic SOS
Just noticed how angry my post looked To be honest though guys, while you've all made good, strong, valid points such as getting games, winning mentality, loyal crowd, having other loanees there etc I still feel it's not enough for the player I deem as our best academy product at the moment. I'm not saying he'll be the Ronaldo/ Messi of League 1 but I just think it'll be too "easy" for him providing he gets the right game time and is played in a suitable position. He needs to be challenged by a higher calibre of player than League 1, it's no disresect to Swindon as whenever I've seen them on highlights they seem to play impressive football and that'll suit Pritch but Pritchard himself won't grow as a player in my opinion if he's not facing a more difficult opposition. Hopefully I'm seriously mistaken and he comes back next year ready to challenge for first team footy.
Supposedly Benteke was that player who visited the training ground last week with chadli. It was all too cooincidental how that rumour came about and then a few days later a transfer request goes in. I like the thought of Benteke and think he'll do well for us, even though he's not David villa!
Dos Santos has gone to Villareal that's another 3-5 million in the transfer pot as Levy put a 50% add on to the transfer
