I think we paid £4.7m plus possible add-ons and an expired sell-on fee. A similar fee or a loan-to-buy wouldn't surprise me. Hopefully he's being moved on to make space for a replacement. A very talented player, but his attitude and application are questionable and he didn't seem too enamoured with living in England, except for the nightlife.
Yeah I think you're right on the price PNP. Though I think there's still a sell-on fee, I'm sure I read that if we sold him within the first two years it was 20%, after two years it went down to 10%. Really hope it makes room for a replacement. This window more than any other I've desperately wanted a "World Class" striker, usually I'm against spending insane amounts but the need for someone to be able to finish half chances and also create them couldn't be any bigger and personally I think Levy should go all out for someone. Get rid of dead wood like Pav, Pienaar and Co and use their fees + wages towards the potential signing. Think Pav is on £50K p/w and Pienaar £70k p/w (!) (was reportedly on £65k p/w at Everton), right there is enough to entice a top striker.
tend to agree with you here SOS. although, regardless of what pienaar and pav are on, we'd never pay out a combined £120k in wages for one player, regardless of whether it makes no actually difference to payroll as the other two would have left. - could see some upset in the squad there if we did that! It's weird how quiet the rumour mill is... normally we're linked to every bloody player there is. there's been nothing for days. just read this article on coulibaly, thought you all might like a read. - it almost seems like the journalist is suggesting that he will be our solution if we nurture him, but not just yet. - really excited to see this guy play. http://www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/spurs-spotlight-souleymane-coulibaly
He does look quite a prospect and I really hope he makes the breakthrough
Coulibaly scored again for a Spurs XI yesterday, though they lost to an Orient XI 3-2. He doesn't seem to stop banging them in. Should be interesting to see how he does in the NextGen game against Liverpool.
I can think of one pretty good reason all the reporting about Spurs isn't on the back pages this week. The thing is, that could actually help us - Levy can do the deals in the background, which means there's less chance of somebody trying to gazump us or whatever. I couldn't fail but notice MUPLC's magic overdraft is expected to cover the £25m quoted for Leandro, but as the focus isn't on our involvement in the transfer that means we're free to negotiate...and actually showed interest, unlike the MUPLC link which is presumably because Barca, Real, Milan, Inter, Chelsea and man City are linked to other players...
caught offside say manure are planning to bid 20 million for vdv this summer,if that's true they won't be able to afford Modders as well?
Nice to see we're seen as a threat to MUPLC's position again, hence the conveniently-timed reports of summer bids for Modric and VDV. At least it underlines the fact Liverpool or Arsenal have dropped off their radar...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...8/Villarreal-bid-6-5m-Giovani-dos-Santos.html and http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/7453304/Dos-Santos-close-to-Spurs-exit £6.5m for GDS?! That's £6.4m more than I thought people would be bidding If the Fail are right (would be a first) and we're holding out for £8m then that's pretty insane, considering his lack of integration in the first team. I'd rather we just sell him for £6.5m than keep him till Summer - his value will drop even further then + we'd be paying his wages for another half season. But hey ho - I don't run Spurs's books
£6.5m is a great amount for a guy who probably hasn't even played more than 20 games in 4 years for us.
does anyone know what's happened to the stellar signing harry was on about signing, during this transfer window?
Sevilla have ruled themselves out of the race to sign Dos Santos. Apparently we wanted an exorbitant amount for him. €6.5m is a massive fee to them now, it seems.
