The fail have reported we recalled him after reading Twitter. Either they have fluked some info or its the usual BS! 1 day left of the window and we're recalling Carroll and Livermore. Doesn't make sense but as this is Spurs you wonder if going to act without much class.

Although Sherwood rates both players and they will likely be here in the summer. With Holtby and Capoue? On their way out.

There's some real negativity on twitter at the moment. A lot of people are pissed off about being left in the dark all the time. People seem to have also woken up to the "leaking bucket" theory, in the sense that we never actually strengthen; were just always covering up the holes with players who aren't anywhere as good as the ones we sell.

I said it about a month ago, but part of me wonders whether Sherwood is up to something. We all know he's levy's golden boy and a bit of a backstabber, and it wouldn't surprise me if he's purposely bringing the likes of Livermore back to emphasise that Baldini and AVB were/are useless and wasted a **** ton of money.
The ultimate result for Sherwood ? - Baldini gets the chop and Sherwood gets more time to build "his" team with levy's trust.

Could be worse. We could be making comedy signings like Charlton's new Belgian winger.
He goes by the name of Anıl Koç! <laugh>

Thanks for the attachment. unbelievable that we average a spend of 750,000 (over the last 5 years) a year and somehow made 4th.
Shows that Harry's was a sort of golden age in our two decades of irrelevance compared to our swashbuckling past.
Enic have had very limited success with the host of clubs they have controlled over the years. They are frugal and look for profit for minimal risk.
Unfortunately we have the pleasure of their overlord ship till they can sell for maximum gain.
An investment company that doesn't invest in the team ,
so roll on years of anarchy, chaos and false dawns.

And you have to admrie Arsenal to record a profit, not have a huge win from a player like Bale and be top of the league for most of this season.

I've no idea what there other clubs have done but Enic have been very good for us. What that chart doesn't tell you is that in our CL season our wages went up by over £20mill a year and have stayed at that figure even without the CL. It also doesn't show that we spent £80mill of building a state of the art new training complex in that period. Of course we can't continue to spend on every front so we have to choose our battles, trying buy players to overtake the big clubs isn't really the best option as they'll always be able to outspend us.

"They are frugal and look for profit for minimal risk." Well of course they do, they're a business. If this was your money and you'd invested in an NFL club that you had no affiliation with, would you be throwing millions of your own money on top to try and push the team forward or would you spend what the club can afford? Not everyone can have a billionaire who is happy to hemorrhage 100s of millions for years to get them to the top. There are far more frugal owners out there who do far more damage to the clubs they own. At Spurs we don't make profits because any operating profits are quickly reinvested so we break even, give or take a few million each year. When they sell up they'll get their profit and as far as I'm concerned their profit is well earned because we were a mess under Sugar and we've gone from midtable to regularly competing in Europe under them.

If you want an owner to take risks then maybe you should speak to Villa fans. Lerner took an admirable risk in giving his best players huge contracts to keep them away from bigger clubs but the trouble was they'd need CL football to afford it. We all know how that went, they missed out on CL football and the bubble burst as Lerner realised he's just pissed away a small fortune. We did the sensible, low risk thing in the meantime. No one got a ridiculous contract offer to stay at our club and whilst the progress was slower than Villa's it's testament to our management that we're still here in the mix whilst Villa have been in relegation battles since their plan failed.

If you look at transferleague for the past 10 yrs, you can see periods where the core of the squad has
been stable, and where it has been in churn. No surprise that the two periods when the core has been stable
correspond to the two consecutive 5th places under BMJ, and the seasons from 2009 to 2013 under Arry and AVB.

The squad churn this season IMHO resembles the summer of 2008.
But having raised the collective squad quality and experience since then, is the reason we are currently 10 pts off top
rather than another "2 from 8" .

I am sorry I don't agree, as a FAN I do not support this accountant's strategy of non achievement.
They run the football side as a Nuthouse.

In an age where Spurs where financially sound.

If you want the financial equivalent of Audere est facere, you may wish to support
Blackburn or Leeds.

Thank you for your logical but passionless advice , sort of a Vulcan Lewis/Levy mentality.

Wonder what happened to the Guarin story, if Capoue follows Holtby out anyone reckon we could make a late move for him? Guarin was the talk of the town for a few days earlier in the window then it all went dead.

As a fellow fan I'll support my team wherever we are in the league but I'm very happy with the steady improvement we've made over the past decade.

I don't think "to dare is to do" really applies to putting financial stability on the line.

Guarin's been linked with United and probably some others too, I think it was just his agent or Inter trying to drum up some interest. We've already signed 7 players from abroad this season and most have struggled to settle, if we're signing anyone else they should really have some Premier League experience.
