Martin Chivers - that's a blast from the past. I used to have him in my "Soccer Stars" folder along with Mike England, Alan Gilzean, Steve Perryman and I think Dave Mackay?
Any opinions on Sherwood's apparent U-turn on us signing players in January? He seems to have gone from claiming that we weren't interested in buying anyone to claiming that we're looking to do a lot of business in the space of a few days. Odd.
when did he change his tune? No doubt it'll all be at the end of the window on deadline day, and we'll "try" for that certain special addition to the team, which'll never happen. I think our summer antics prove that you can't chop and change and expect to get success instantly. To do it again in January would be madness, IMO. We need to learn from the summer, not do it again! It'll be hard enough integrating a striker and a LB (which is all we need IMO), let alone anyone else.
That question was given to him 2 days before a match i think, i did feel the answer was a squad morale boosting one, the players must feel a little unsure and a line from the new manager saying there will be ins and outs wasn't best prep for the game ahead. A week on its the same scenario, but Tim has probably had the chance now to speak to the players, better to hear it from him than via an interview on tv.
It's only the left back position I can see being strengthened, I know fans want a striker signed but apart from someone like Berba on a short term deal, all the top players will cost a vast fortune and there is no chance of Levy agreeing to any big money moves this window. The names being branded about are mostly Italian or at Italian clubs as out of favour players there will be cheap(and papers assume due to Baldini we will look their first), or the fail trying to wind us up by saying we want to sign kalou!!
Only if we can be assured that Charlie Adam gets sold abroad as a result. Having him reduced to only playing against us would not be good.
One person who could not be stopped, short on shooting him was Greavsie, once he had the ball and was heading for goal, you could not knock him off the ball
yeah, I guess it is. I wonder where we stand in this "race"... For me, it's a bit like sticking Sally Gunnell in the mens 100m against Usain Bolt.
Dunno what's going on with Wikipedia, but look at Reus's career so far. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marco_Reus 2012-2014 - Borussia Dortmund 0 games 0 goals.... eh?! and now apparently he's signed for united! someone is currently wumming wikipedia! please log in to view this image
Anyone can edit wikipedia. I did it for Spurs to prove a point to someone. Often about the timing on particular pages (when the "quality control" bods for a given page pick up the change notifications and correct them) .
