5 million for Naughton ? No wonder football clubs go bust. Only Dean Austin keeps Naughton out of my worst ever Spurs team.
Vlad is an enigma to me. For some reason I can't quite fathom, I love watching him play, but there is always a mistake in there somewhere. I'd rather have him than Kaboul but I think both will be gone and replaced by a single CB by the start of next season.
I think Vlad is a good RB, on balance, but too mistake-prone to be a good CB. The persistent back problem worries me, though. I also can’t see us needing three RBs. But I like watching him play as well. You never know what he’ll do.
Was he really worse than Noe Pamarot or Alton Thelwell? As for left back, there's Gilberto, Paolo Tramezzani, Ben Thatcher and Timothee Atouba ahead of him in that category.
Yeah I think so too. I was somewhat hoping it'll be this window as I'm still unsure of Fazio so wanted someone new to challenge for a spot. One of Shawcross, Williams or maybe Simon Kjaer (based on Palermo and Lille form, NOT Wolfsburg and Roma) would be good options in my opinion.
Not ideal but not a disaster, providing we avoid getting any serious injuries. As much as I want a CB and ST this window it's been made clear we have to sell before buying and I think Poch truly believes that what we have is "OK" at the moment and likely understands that his best chances of getting rid of those he deems deadwood will be in the Summer when teams have more money to spend from league finishes/ TV deals/ sponsors etc... IF we do sell to then buy this window, I'd say the likelihood is it'll be in the last day or two, where clubs may be looking to panic buy and therefore Levy can work his magic at ridding and buying in the time span allowed.
It's baffling how nobody's making a bid for BAE - unless they too equate his initials with irritating internet slang, which is putting potential buyers off. Didn't someone say that we're at our limit of non-HG players, so if we wanted to bring in one of Konoplyanka or Jackson Martinez we'd need to shift one of our non-HG deadwood? If there's something to it that means our transfer strategy is like a game of Tetris, and we're waiting for everything to fall into place, rather than a game of Candy Crush Saga where it's so much easier when you spend money. If we move on Adebayor, we can dream of Konoplyanka or Martinez. If we can't, it's Delph or Ings.
It makes you wonder what was going through Spurs minds when they bought those disasters. Did Spurs buy them just to buy players or from heresay? Or were the Spurs reps, who bought them, given a slice of money by the agents?Because something wasn't right. I can recognize if a player is good at his position if our lot can't!
Regardless of any home-grown player quotas, we're pretty much at the limit of squad size aren't we? We need to sell to buy just to fit new arrivals into the registered squad, let alone from a financial perspective. A couple of months ago I was hoping that we would see major upheaval this January because I think there is still much work to be done on the squad, but given that we've been on a bit of a roll results wise perhaps the decision has been taken to mostly keep the players together, bad apples and good, in order to prevent our reasonably good form and momentum going down the pan.
Maybe he was even worse when he joined us? As for Pamarot and Atouba, I'll hazard a guess and say they fit into what Santini wanted from his full backs, namely players who wouldn't dare cross the halfway line. There's two ways to achieve this aim: blow a whistle every time your full backs do this on the training pitch to alert them to their "bad" habits (which is exactly what Santini did), or bring in players with so many obvious limitations they're genuinely terrified of trying this new fangled attacking full back nonsense.
Perhaps they should have this added onto their contracts:- "If the player turns out to be totally useless their contract can be cancelled". Perhaps not. That would leave us with a dozen players!!!!!!!?
Taricco requested his contract with West Ham be cancelled for that reason. Well, either that or he was hoping to get out of there ASAP...
it's reported we are looking at Ings again, as M.P wants another striker, and we won't pay the 20 million wanted, for Berinho(?)
He's out of our league . Levy will offer next to nothing. A realistic target would be Matt Smith from Bristol City.
Imho the only thing to do with Adebayor is pay off his contract. His presence on the pitch is negative...I do not agree with the booing of a spurs player (I get why people are angry with him but i don't get the booing) but it is happening and will continue to happen cos he slagged off the fans in the press...because of this negative feeling he should not be picked so keeping him on is simply a waste of a space in the squad.
