City's poor form is puzzling. Assuming you can beat them when you play them (you're going to have to), the gap is four points. But aside from Utd away, their other games are Swansea (away) and four home games v Villa, West Ham, QPR and Soton - can't see them slipping up too often there.
CIty had a similar blip in Mancinis final season, even AVB managed to get the better of him! Although we have to credit the legend Hudd, for that result!......Same back then, City are there are for taking, we can grab 3rd, what happens? we **** up, City pick up form and they still finish 2nd (which I'm sure will happen), with us (at the very best) in 5th.
The results this weekend are the essence of the "echoes of glory" . Come the end of the season, we still not have got a CL slot, but you keep pushing on til the end. The performance at Burnley on that basis was poor in itself, and appalling in the context of the other results.
Game of the year on Sunday. Superb showing of.... Ermm... Of... Hmmmm. God it was awful, wasn't it? Vorm made a half decent save, Dier again shows promise and Davies looked pretty decent at CB when he came on, apart from that it was woeful and a complete borefest. Mason and Bentaleb could probably do with a week off I think, they look a bit jaded and aren't playing as well as they have been in recent games - The internationals probably didn't help them either. Rose was ok, though Walker again continues to piss me off, his form has been **** for most of the season and I'm losing patience with him, sounds really awful but I wasn't upset at him being subbed off injured, Vlad has probably played better in the few RB appearances he's had there and I'd be happy to see Yedlin given a chance. Chadli has also lost form, I think that's down to the loss of his father so completely understandable. Kane didn't have enough service and I hate seeing Eriksen on the wing. One thing's for sure, Paulinho shouldn't wear a Spurs shirt again. What an awful performance in a game where he was given the chance to impress. Corinthians must have cloned the real Paulinho and sent us the dud. Like someone on Twitter said, "Paulinho doesn't have the right to have "inho" at the end of his name, from now on he will be known as Paul" A point away to Burnley isn't a bad result though, they've got some good results against the top sides at Turf Moor and the fact it's at the business end of the season where the bottom sides tend to find that extra gear, a point is pretty decent, just a shame it was in a game that you'd play to your newborn to help them fall asleep. WE DID KEEP A CLEAN SHEET THOUGH!!!
If you thought the players were lethargic on Sunday, then the club announcing a friendly to be played against a Malaysian XI 3 days after the season ends before moving on to play in Australia must seem like madness. You will have played more games than any other PL side, yet the club thinks the players need yet more games as soon as the season is over rather than rest. Are these games that lucrative for the club that it's worth risking players' fitness?
Walker out for the rest of the season. The only surprising things about that were the lack of criticism for the awful challenge that caused it, the lack of a free kick and card from the ref and the decision to send him back out after ht.
