Yep, Pochettino has had his "Arry at Stevenage" moment. Utterly bizarre selections given what is at stake.
Everything about this match has been awful. Also - the Burnley crowd applaud everything - gets annoying after a while.
The motivation has gone. Top 4 is gone and Spurs are playing like they wanna avoid Europa League next season.
Let's be honest lads, recent results have decided pretty much who finishes where. Yes, this is a pathetic performance but there's simply no point in getting our hopes up for a highly unlikely top 4 challenge this late when our squad simply isn't good enough yet. I'd take 5th or 6th all season when we started so for me, we have something to build on now and these last few games will just show us who's worth keeping and who isn't. We clearly know who needs to say bye bye in the summer. Let's see who really wants to be around next season at our club.
Playing for nothing now other than the WUM feast that finishing above the Poool will provide for HIAG. Very poor by both Pochettino and the players.
What a load of crap that was. Really disjointed and sluggish. Our first clean sheet in about a million years though, despite having a ropey lineup there and being forced to play people out of position. Davies actually did pretty well, considering. Definitely need changes for the next game and we should have more to pick from at the back. Paulinho didn't work at all, for me, Chadli continued his poor run of form and the balance across the midfield doesn't look right. Uninspiring, lacking in creativity and far too narrow.
Ben plays more and more at centre back for Wales , did so few times for the Swans an Michael Laudrup reckoned he would would end up as a centre back.
"but there's simply no point in getting our hopes up for a highly unlikely top 4 challenge this late when our squad simply isn't good enough yet." Today was not about quality, but about DESIRE. The difference between the end of 2010 and every season since is simply desire and self-belief.
Really, really poor performance and that's probably the top 4 decided now. It was like watching us at the start of the season, no tempo, no composure and no ideas. Thought Kane and Mason, especially, looked tired and that's worrying, we've been there before with Redknapp where we hit a wall at the end of the season and results go off a cliff. Fight for 5th it is then, please no more Paulinho though, that pass/shot was just painful.
I agree and I think this game shows who has it, who does't and as I pointed out - who we keep and who we try to offload.
Your two rivals for 5th place both lost this weekend - that's a positive. Surprised Burnley seemed to settle for a point when three would have taken them out of the bottom three. Never had this down as a 0-0
is it an emperors clothes moment... I thought we were meant to be fitter and faster then we had been under previous managers. But this looked just insipid dull and devoid of any game plan. it is pretty clear that we have some startingly average players who we paid way over the odds for. But if we dump all these donkeys we are going to be at the same position we were after selling Bale. having a group of new players who need two seasons to bed in. it is just a vicious cycle
Highlights for tv to talk about... 1) how bentaleb was lucky Ings didnt go down...neville was creaming himself over that non incident 2) the appalling tackle on walker that was not even called as a foul 3) walker coming out for the 2nd half 4) walker going off 15 seconds later 5) dier being elbowed in the face and the ref doing nothi g about it 6) paulinio's attempt
I busted a gut to drive over 285 miles in 4 hours from Devon to Kent to get home in time to catch the 2nd half of that crud. Needn't have bothered!
