Agree with you 87 but as it's only one of three domestic trophies it's worth it.

It always make me laugh when I see supporters bashing the League Cup, especially those of clubs who rarely make it into Europe.
Most teams basically have two shots at winning anything and three of getting into Europe.
Why would you want to pass any of them up?

Spurs win the League Cup then Arsenal fans also have to deal with the reality that both Spurs and Chelsea will have had better seasons than them, possibly West Ham too if they were to win the FA Cup.

I don't see how any legit Arsenal fan could want Tottenham to win a trophy but I guess that's the way the games gone.

It's by far and away the most winnable competition for all 92 league clubs.

I do agree but I think everything nowadays is centered around the Premier League and Champions League, mainly due to the amount of revenue that both competitions generate. Unfortunately, as a result, it means there is less attention and significance given to the League Cup and to an extent the FA Cup.

As far as I'm concerned, any (official) trophy is a good one. Whether it's a League Cup or a Champions League, not many feelings can beat the sense of accomplishment when you have a trophy rewarded for your efforts in a competition.

Nothing is certain in football - but I would gladly put money on West Ham not winning the FA cup.

As for Chelsea - it is expected that they compete for major honours and trophies, so if you do have a better season than us, it is pretty much expected and has been for the last 10 years.

I still think the fact Spurs have to go to Italy three days before the LC final will take it's toll, although I accept it depends on which competition Pocchetino decides to prioritise & how well they do in the first leg.

Erm no sorry, if we get top 4 and Spurs don't, and let's say we don't win the FA Cup, and Spurs with the CC, then no that doesn't mean they had a better season than us. Seriously what are you smoking? Yes the CC is a cup, but it nowhere near makes you more successful over getting into Champions League football, the elitist football competition in the world, and not to mention the money it brings into the club, and the star power it can attract to your club. I'm sure top players would be really really motivated to leave their top clubs to come to Spurs because they won the Capital One Cup.

And just to make this debate more simple, let's say both Spurs and Arsenal are after the same top player, Arsenal come 4th, Spurs come 5th with the Capital One Cup, who do you think has the better leverage and what do you think is going to be the more lucrative offer for the player? Being offered European football, CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL, or being told hey we won the Capital One Cup. We all know the answer, so gettttt the **** out of here with that nonsense of winning the micky mouse cup makes Spurs more successful than us in this season. Heck the player probably even won't know what the **** the Capital One Cup is.

And this is why Wenger wont get sacked the board aren't interested in trophies just about keep the money coming in for the Champions League. Couldn't see Arsenal filling the stadium for Europa League games as they are ****e till you get to the OF/SF but in 20 years time it might say in the history book Tottenham: COC 2015 Winners. Arsenal: None.

It looks a bit better then. (Not by much though.)

Good for Tottenham winning the COC in 2015, in 20 years from now, we will still end up with more trophies than Spurs, as usual, so one season isn't the end of the world. And you keep acting like everything is set in stone, we can still end this season with a trophy, 2 in fact, still in Europe and anything is always possible, and when it comes to the Fa Cup, we're favourites for that trophy.

And btw, Spurs are about to move into a new stadium, or should I say start building a new stadium, so money counts big time right now, when it comes down to it, the UCL money and prestige it will bring will be absolutely 10 times more vital than their micky mouse cup win.

Football is indeed about money, but it's about balancing that with trophies as well, not sacrificing one for the other. So hey by all means let Spurs win the micky mouse cup, and flunk out of top 4 and lose big $$$ which they desperately need, and which will **** them royally in the ass afterwards when the budget is tighter than 5 thongs. :D

I'm afraid to say you are typical of the modern football fan. There is no doubt in my mind that the be all and end all of football is winning trophies. You are too young to remember the excitement of Arsenal fans when we won the League Cup in 1987 as it was our first trophy in 8 years.(yes we have been on trophy droughts before)

Totally agree. In some ways the new Champions league format has further exasperated the problem. So much emphasis is now getting top 4 that the joy of simply watching your team competing for a domestic cup has become a passionless affair amongst modern fans.

Funny when you think that a trophy called the Champions League is disputed from the top 4 of the big domestic leagues. Fecking money spinning joke. Football is becoming more and more a soulless and passionless affair.

Im not fussed if they win or not, I can remember just off the top of my head Everton won the FA Cup in 1995, Man Utd in 1985, Tottenham 1981,1982, Arsenal 1993, Coventry 1987, Wimbledon 1988. League Arsenal 1988-89, Man U 1992-93, Leeds Utd 1991-92 season Everton 1984-85. League Cup Winners. Birmingham 2011, Swansea 2013, Tottenham 2008, Middlesbrough 2004.

Can't remember where Arsenal finished in the League in any of those years just remember the winners of the competitions, but I suppose this is the way of the modern fan now Champions League money is involved.
