Jorginho booked as well for a stupid foul. Honestly, can we please stop this? And now Spurs are in behind again, we're getting overrun (which was my worry as the game progresses). This is a terrible start to the second half.
There's absolutely no conviction in our execution in the final third whatsoever. It's been so bad every time we've had an opportunity to exploit their backline.
Saka looks injured here. This doesn't look good. He's holding his quad. Ah man. This is worrying. He's shaking his head and Arteta doesn't look too pleased, either.
Game management really needs to be better here, man. We're in control of the ball, in their third, and we keep making silly decisions that is giving Spurs encouragement, rather than taking the sting out the game.
Sterling, as expected, is in a good position to shoot or pass, takes a million years and the opportunity is wasted. This was my concern when we signed him. He doesn't improve our box efficiency.
FT. 0-1. Yessss! What a win! I didn't expect us to win at all . We've beaten Spurs away for the 3rd consecutive year in the row - when was the last time we did that? We never even did this under Wenger. Massive, massive result, especially with all the injuries and suspensions we had in key areas. We didn't play that well, and I was frustrated with our careless on the ball at times, but Spurs weren't great either. And we did what we needed to to get the win. The defence were absolutely incredible. Gabriel and Timber especially were absolutely colossal. Raya commanded his area well. Also, whilst Spurs had a lot of the ball, they didn't create much. Raya didn't exactly have tonnes of saves to make. Superb, resilient display. Onto Atalanta away now. But the first big test has been passed!
****ing Get In. Even without or best creative player and our first choice CM we're still better than the Spuds. COYG
To be fair - Arteta has been doing this in the big away games. Just prioritising keeping a solid shape at the back - even if it means we concede some possession.
Also, special mention to Ethan Nwaneri. That was an impressive 15 minute cameo. Wasn't fazed at all. Got stuck in, made some big challenges, played a lovely through ball to Sterling for a chance and looked very comfortable amongst the senior players. He looks a serious talent .
Thought Timber was superb today. Starting to find some sharpness, the guy is excellent with the ball and he's a tough character as well.
