Nice to see Sandro getting in a few tackles. Two options for the holding role, when it often felt like we had none last season.
Step aside, I have a great history for this. Here goes: (Ahem) I hereby publicly state that Sandro will NOT score a hat trick tonight. <nowjustsitbackandwaitsmiley>
It's not like Lennon and Townsend don't cut in from their correct sides, just gives the defender something else to worry about.
I wanted 2-0 at half time and I certainly hope it doesn't stay like this. RDBD, yes you're right they did last out longer than they should have done.
Flank players on their PROPER sides. Dembele to drive thru more from CM. That should be enough to give their bus something to think about. Look for 2-0 by 60 mins and then Holtby can have a go in CM (he offered a fair bit of guile in the Europa group games last season) .
Not much to talk about in that half, no one really had to do much and none impressed, bar Sandro who's been really good at breaking up play. Don't know why Pochettino doesn't want him. Missing Eriksen's passing for sure, might be good to see Holtby on in the second half, if he's on his way out then we'll need to bring someone in who can take over Eriksen's role.
Pav's had a mare. Lokomotiv Moscow faced another club from Limassol tonight, having drawn the away leg 1-1. They subsequently lost 4-1 at home, with our former striker coming off the bench to nick a consolation in the last five minutes. Feyenoord look to be going out on away goals, unless they nick a late one. Seems to be a tricky round.
I don't think the players did very well trying to play Pochettino's system, albeit against opponents who are good at making them look bad. Townsend, in particular, has hardly appeared in the box. Kane's done well other than shooting badly. Dembele's been very good throughout, Chiriches did well except for one bad giveaway. That is Chiriches, though. Always a high wire act. Lennon's been okay, but he just can't shoot. Davies and Kaboul have been reasonable. Dembele always looks like he has potential in an attacking role, but always on the same days he looks good in a deeper lying one.
Sandro could be that player who plays his way into the managers plans if no club makes a bid for him, as his overall game is under rated, he is more talented then Dembele, Paulinho, Holtby and Capoue and while these are different type of players, Sandro is such an outstanding player. I just hope no one bids because of his injury problems and we get "stuck" with him
I don't know, we had a number of lopsided scorelines last year. Better in the second half. Pretty from Chiriches and Paulinho, not to mention Kane. Paulinho does finish well, consistently well, as far as I can remember.
Given they have to score some goals now you would hope that space opens up and we can get a few more.
Their heart won't be in it now. The boys have to play to destroy Limassol now, to stake their claim to the PL starting XI.
