I think Dawson is better in the air, and also physically stronger.

I'm very interested by this, Spurcat. Could you expand?

The thing with Freund sounds ridiculous. I was always somehow immune to his cheerleading charms as a player. Possibly because his passing, for me, was more of an issue than how much noise the fans were making.

I don't doubt that the managers were happy with it. But I think they were wrong. I can't remember ever scoring a goal from it and nine times out of ten it gives the ball to the opposition. There is a similar problem with Huddlestone's long passing unless he is really on song. Perhaps it is a bit unfair on Dawson and THudd to be out of favour because they've been following orders but there has been precious little from Thudd to prove that AVB was wrong to want someone else. THudd is one of my favourite players by the way - but I don't really think he's got enough mobility to do a job for a top 4 side.

I wonder if there are one or two center forwards in the lower leagues who are hungry enough and good enough to put some life in our forward line?Spending millions doesn't always work at White Hart Lane. Some of them sign that contract for the gravy train...and go to sleep!Wakey, wakey Tottenham.Do you want to be winners or losers while earning al this cash!!!!!

HI BS, there are a number of Andy Carrolls/Shane Longs/Holts/Fletchers around and doubtless some of that ilk waiting to be discovered in the lower leagues. I wanted someone like that in during the summer, people who as you say who may not be 'big names' but could do a job for us.

You have to remember though a lot of Spurs fans turn their noses up at such players, and prefer talking about someone like Falcao, even though we don't have a hope of getting someone like him.

Huntelaar and Llorent are both out of contract this Summer,so in January i would imagine thier clubs would want to cash in on them,if they want to get some of their money they spent on them back

Huntelaar is a def possibility in Jan as PNP quite rightly pointed out. a world class striker at a bargain. it's believed he'll only cost about £7m, Tots. - sounds like VDV all over again! :)

Bilbao are a strange club with strange morals and ethics. Infact, that's a little harsh. It's tremendous the way that all of their players have to be from the local area, but when it comes to business, they are rather odd. Llorente made it clear that he wanted to leave and there were a host of clubs all over europe who wanted him and were willing to pay decent money. They turned every offer down and completely priced him out of a move. The fans turned against him for being disloyal (I mean properly turned against him) and as a result, he's now fed up, and Bilbao will have to sell for a cut price in Jan, or see him leave in the summer for nothing.

this is what i don't get. why demand £35mill and not be prepared to budge, when there were offers of £20-25m in the summer(supposedly) when he had 1 year left? not they face getting nothing pretty much, when they could have used that money to reinvest in more young talent from the area.

I don't have a Spanish map to hand but could it be because Bilbao are Basques.
I remember being shown around the Barcelona ground with a coach load of tourists in 1974 and our regular guide from the Basque area was not allowed to guide us.A local had to do the guiding. Can't remember what they called the locals at the moment but wasn't this kind of racial?
Anyway, the stadium was memorable and they were selling souvenirs like they were going out of style!!!!

Barca locals would be Catalans, BS9.
Bilbao have always had a squad of exclusively Basque players in the past, though I'm not sure if they're still as hot on this as they used to be.
They have had a few non-Spanish players too, like Lizarazu, but he was still Basque.

    Thank you PNP.
    Catalans.That's what they were/are.
Stayed in the Caletta Palace hotel in Gibraltar a lot of years ago in Catalan Bay.I guess they got the name from the original Spaniards on The Rock at that time.
I know we took it over in 1704....and they've wanted it back ever since. But it was given to Britain by the King of Spain at that time, legally!
