You’re right, RCL. Especially regarding the Leicester performance spilling over. A point away at a very good Watford side with 10 men and a diabolical ref is a damn decent result. And jeez you have a good memory! I’d forgotten Middlesbrough we’re even a premier league team!
Well said, RCL I thought we improved when we went down to 10, seemed better balanced and less nervy. I’ve not been Trips biggest fan in recent weeks, but despite the fact he could have done better with a couple of crosses I thought he had a bloody good game. There were some positives to be had - honestly there were......
Trippier was much better today. Got further forward, got in behind a couple of times, attempted crosses, and played it FORWARDS to a runner down the line. I’m hoping to see more of this in a game where the bus is parked, though.
Two offside goals, one from a free kick given for a foul the referee made up One goal scored because the ref missed a clear foul in the buildup Two goals that would never happen 99 times out of 100 At least two clear penalties not awarded Sure, pundits, blame a book for all that happening...
Well done RCL and Brian for pointing out a few realities. Lot's of positives to be taken from a poor run, this was a team responding and deserving of support.
I agree we did show a lot of heart. My main concern is our upcoming 3 games - two of which are must-wins. What do we do now that Dave is banned?
It won't be easy, we thought we were rich in defenders and now we are struggling. Stoke and Brighton should still be winnable City is another matter. This is Spurs we often lose the games we expect to win and win the games we expect to lose, so City a walk in the park but beware of Stoke and Brighton.
As the commentator pointed out in tonight's game: the team from South London normally have a poor November and then come on strong. Maybe , that is our fate this year. That said, I do dread the coming weeks without Toby and Dave and Wanyama. We have to revert to 4 at the back. 4-4-2. We have good personnel for that system. Teams are upping their game against us as we are the team to beat after the last few seasons. We are not getting the protection from refs like the usual top teams do as everybody likes to see us struggle and want to write us out of the equation. C.O.Y.S
Lloris Davies or Rose, Jan, Dier, Trippier Llamela Eriksen Dele Son Llorente and Kane That is a possibility. I would rest players on Wednesday and maybe one of those coming in might stake a place.
Cometh the hour, cometh the Juan please log in to view this image ...that's a damn sight better than most of the puns doing the rounds on Twattle
Lamela isn't going to be ready to start for a while yet. Look how rusty Rose still is and he was out for a third of the time. The issue we have is that we have too many players who aren't yet fit enough to play 2 games in quick succession. Dembele, Rose and Aurier being top of that list. We now have 4 games in 10 days. The APOEL one is meaningless but unless we draft in 3 or 4 youngsters we will still be relying on the bulk of our first team squad to play. Poch has his work cut out in terms of squad management. Whichever way I look at this, we're going to be carrying 2 or 3 passengers in each of the upcoming PL games. My feeling is to stick with 4 at the back, play Jan and Dier there (although they looked atrocious together last season), use a rotation of Dembele + Winks and Dele + Winks to play CM and tell them to hang back. Rotate Eriksen/Alli/Son/Sissoko in the AM poaitions and switch fullbacks every game but let's please stop this slow but fully fit/pacy but lacking fitness partnership with Davies + Trippier and Aurier + Rose apparently our combinations. I would rather have Davies + Aurier and Trippier + Rose as the combos.
I’m hoping Foyth will step up like Wimmer did. Need to use the squad we have, because the same faces playing week in week out sure ain’t good for them.
It's a massive risk. Not just for the team but for the player too. His confidence could be battered by a few poor results. I'd definitely play him on Wednesday and rest Dier - that is absolutely crucial at this stage as the more central players we lose the more we rely on him. Rose, Llorente and Aurier all need the game time. And Sissoko should start because what the heck. The rest of the team is near-impossible to call. I'd go for: Vorm/Gazza Aurier Foyth Jan Rose Oakley-Booth Winks Georgiou Sissoko GKN Llorente
Kane grows and grows btw he did some fantastic work today and was hacked down throughout the game. His ability to keep the ball and pass players was a little reminiscent of Martin Chivers today for me.
