The usual backlash is starting from fans of other clubs. They should just be grateful he doesn't play for United. The jizz that would generate would be enough to impregnate every woman in the world.
You missed the Kroos one, which was a little later in the same half: It probably says something about how we play that they've now become just another part of the game. They're rarely noteworthy and there are normally a few in each game. Hopefully Townsend's forgotten this one and he plays a blinder tonight:
I wonder how he stacks up against English strikers, statistically speaking? I know Michael Owen never managed to score 20 league goals in a season, so maybe Alli should aim for that landmark?
Didn't Jimmy Greaves hold a record for England until they gave Bobby Charlton umpteen caps to finally pass him?
While Dele is incredible, the remarkable thing is that you can make a serious case that Kane and Eriksen have been even better--and Son may have been the best of the bunch lately. Our forwards have been unworldly the second half of the season. Kane has 23 goals + assists in the PL, Dele 21, Eriksen 18 and Son 15. Eriksen is the only one who is never used as a striker and is probably our most irreplaceable player. Son has got something like 23 goals + assists in all comps, which is remarkable for a reserve player. The list of top midfielders in goals + assists is Dele, 21, Gylfi 19, Hazard 19, Eriksen 18, though tbf there's something to be said for excluding Dele and I believe Gylfi as well as sometimes being better described as front line players. In any case, Gylfi has 3 pens, Hazard 2, Dele 1 and Eriksen none. Eriksen is tied for the league lead in assists and leads in key passes for players with more than 20 games. Not bad for a player almost nobody mentions. Some day he may even be able to make the Guardian's list of top 100 players in the world and join the likes of Aaron Ramsey. As far as strikers go, Kane is second in goals despite missing two considerable stretches. I can't be bothered to do the math, but Son has to be neck and neck with him in goals per minute not including pens, and both have to be close to 1-2 in the league. (Edit) Kane 1. Son 3 among players with 10 goals or more. including pens. Son just edges Kane in goals per minute played if you take away Kane's 4 pens, I think, though they're second and third behind Lukaku.
The fact that Kane is only 4 goals/2 assists behind top scorer Lukaku, having played approximately 800 minutes less of football in an injury hit season, is also no mean feat. For him to hit 20 goals again would be some achievement this year, and he's on 19 and back fit!
That goal for me brings to mind the period when Bale started scoring those type of goals with increasing regularity. Credit to Dele Alli that nearly all of his goals are inside the box (and more often than not ghosting in unseen by the opposition) .
Was in Park Lane and no one around us could quite comprehend how he did that. At HT by the bars people were watching the goals on tv...his and Son's both received a huge gasp from those watching. I think Danny Rose v Arsenal in 2010 is the greatest goal ( just) I have seen live but I doubt I will ever go to a match and see 4 goals of such quality. The worst was Dier's as it was merely very good! I think Son's 2nd was the best on the day but wow...what a great choice to have to make.
You could see the fight draining out of the Watford players as they went in. It must be hard to keep playing at 100% when the other side can do that from nothing.
When your tactics are effectively to try and limit your opponents to exactly those kind of attempts, and they still score, it must be crushing. Similarly for Swansea, when all game you fight hard to stop Spurs working their way into the box, and then they score doing exactly that.
