Cheers for the stats PNP, massively backs up my point. There are many ways to create chances. You don't necessarily need a traditional 'playmaker'. Just add Bale to what we've got and a team that continues to bond, and we wouldn't need one. If we replace Bale with Lamela, is he a 'playmaker'? Not that I know of, may be wrong. So much depends on semantics of course, but what we need is a team that scores more than the other one on most occasions. So far we've done this superbly, scoring 7 in 3 conceding none and winning every game, despite a gruelling schedule with many players missing and others getting to know each other. I also disagree that we've had 'fair to poor play' from our CMs, to quote RWB. We've had 'excellent/outstanding play' from Paulinho and Capoue in their time here, considering the circumstances. I understand RWB is probably looking at creativity, but I'm looking at what the CMs give us, and those two have given plenty so far, IMHO.
I agree completely about Paulinho and Capoue, who have been superb (other than their long range shooting!). But, yes, I was talking about Gylfi and Dembele. For that matter, fair to poor may be a little harsh on Gylfi against Palace. It wasn't pretty, but he battled the ball into good positions for us fairly well, and had one excellent shot.
Sig from my position with the Palace fans looked our weakest player. They were pleased to see him on the team sheet as they reguarded him impotent. Also he missed a sitter , time to pack his bags.
