I wonder if the conditions had anything to do with the team selection? We knew that some players would be missing, but that seems like a lot.
Chance to look at some of our options, I guess.

Thanks for the comments about the rest of us but just ignore people like that, responding like that is just going to lead to yet more trading insults and derailing of the thread. I don't think any of us think our "second string" has a divine right to be beating a Sunderland first team (even with a few reserves thrown in).

Sorry mate, I'm usually calm, but had an arsehole of a client in and that comment just boiled my piss.

    No harm intended <ok>

(the herpes hope remains, of course)

    No worries <ok>

I kind of support Hull City on the side, Well they are local to where I live so I sometimes get to games they got nothing on the Mighty Spurs <3

But wondered how you think Danny Graham will do playing as the main striker (he's literally their only one).

I have no idea why but Hull used to be my 3rd team back in the day before they got good. I even have Dean Windass' autograph somewhere on official Hull City paper.

Oh, i DO remember! My fave player was Nicky Barmby and he was from Hull

    completely agree mate <ok>
if there's more players coming in (like soldado for example who will not come cheap), we need to be planning on shifting a few out to recoup some monies.

He'll be alright there mate, he should never have signed for us, we were a one paced side that had no confidence and guile, Graham came from an impressive pacey slick passing side were he could stand his ground in the box and wait for space.

He's never gonna be a top striker, but I'd honestly think he's a genuine 10-12 a season man in any side, that'll be a great help to Hull.

Not scoring in that MON side was easier than breathing, we were pitiful and crippled by lack of confidence, by the time Paolo came in and shook it up, Danny was to far gone.

He'll do well down there, no doubt in my mind.

Fair enough! I remember I was desperate to see Spurs as a kid but my dad said we couldnt go as it was too far / expensive. He said if I found a cheaper team to follow (and not too far away) he'd take me to see them but that Spurs had to be my number 1 still (as he's a mad Spurs fan too!) So I scrolled down the leagues to find the bottom club of the bottom (division 3 at that time) who were Hull City and also on verge of Bankruptcy - Picked them as they would be affordable and since they have kept climbing up the divisions getting more and more expensive now I still cant afford to see either team I support <laugh>

Funny seeing someone describe Hull as "down there" not "up there" <laugh>

Thanks matey <ok> Gunna leave him in my fantasy team seeing as he's almost half the price of Benteke.

I certainly wouldn't do that mate, haha.

My top tip is Adam Johnson for FF, he has totally bought into Di Canio, is lean as ****, fitter than he's ever been, and last few games of last season was sharp as a tack.

Bear in mind his '****' first season yielded 8 goals all comps and double figures in assists.

He'll score massive points this season, and is a bit of a bargain <ok>

Its strange seeing Hull and Spurs in the same division, i never expected them to meet outside of cups. My 2nd team is Aldershot and once they were similar to Hull and now look at the difference!
The new stadium turned it round for them i think. Never been to Boothferry but by all accounts it sounded like a ****hole.

I'm gonna take that tip. I like Adam Johnson, very, very good player. Should never have gone to City, like most players

A friend of mine(Everton fan) used to say the same thing about Johnson. If he scored loads in preseason he started slowly that season and if he didn't score much he did well once the competitive games start.

Shame about the loss today, although if the conditions were as bad as some were saying then I think both sides would've been just glad to fulfill their contract by playing and then move on. What happens now, do we still play City?

Yeah, if he'd signed for us when he went City, he'd likely be on his way to City, Arsenal or you lads this season.

He was bogged down by MON's ugly football and just lost interest, looked a waste of money but from day 1 under Di Canio he was a different beast.

Strikes me he likes Di Canio, respects him, and as such wants to do well for him, we've all had a gaffer we didn't wanna let down in the past.

When he went to City, we'd agreed a deal, around £7.5 million rising to £9million, City steamed in with £15million and 80k a week, we had no chance.

Credit to the lad, he supposedly took a 20k a week cut to come to us and play (although 60k a week is hardly breadline...).

The midfield is looking really, really promising for us.

Well done Sunderland fully deserved win.
I'm not bothered by the result. These were our friendly results at the beginning of the 08-09 season:

    Tavernes 0-8 Spurs
    Denia 2-4 Spurs
Spurs 5-1 Norwich (Darren Bent scored 4!!)
    Spurs 2-0 Celtic
    Spurs 3-0 Borussia Dortmund
    Spurs 5-0 Roma
We scored 33 goals and conceded 5 in 7 games with Darren Bent scoring 13...................

    First 8 games that season:
    Won 0 drew 2 Lost 6

So lets not read too much into it!!

You play South China, an utterly pointless exercise.

admittedly i have been paying very little attention but isn't that who beat Utd? A bunch of part-timers and people missing limbs etc?

United are in Japan mate, the J-League is a pretty decent standard, and they are mid-season, I had money on United to lose that one (based on fitness).

If the pitch is better, you should canter past South China.
