Where do we go with this kind of comment? I think it's quite clear who has the high & mighty attitude. I am just asking you to refrain from personal attacks, they are not neccessary.
Point in case. I also notice you have removed my other post, where I simply suggested I wanted to continue a sensible debate with fellow Spurs fans. I think abusing your powers as a moderator is taking it a little too far. Anyway, moving on from this fickle behaviour...
Hi FX, Spurf is a very decent bloke . I tend to agree on nearly nothing he writes and his fellow mods but they are very rational (far more than me) and have good points which keep this a pretty dynamic board. I am more with you on your points but not so direct. As Noel Coward said "We are a happy breed" even more corny as Shakes said "A Band of Brothers" Season of goodwill.
Your post was clearly removed for saying "clearly this is your chance to try and position yourself in life". Insulting people isn't the way to go about things on here, frankly. Totally unnecessary.
Welcome to the Board FK - We may not agree with one another's opinions on here all the time - sometimes never at all - but by and large there remains more than a modicum of respect. And one thing that I have never witnessed is an abuse of power as a Mod. Merry Xmas!!!
Forums all over the internet are full of moderators who abuse their powers so I guess you are openly admitting to being no different. Thanks Sidney, I'm sure he is a decent bloke, so i'll tone it down a bit.
I am leaving this post up although it is once again clearly insulting. This is an open forum and the Spurs board carries a high level of debate. The Moderators are volunteers and here to work with all posters to make it a fun place to be. Any abuse of these 'powers' will be quickly stamped on by the posters on this forum. Do not judge us by what you may have experienced on other forums. You are a new poster, you have posted a well argued thread and some good posts. The fact that I have disagreed with some of these is nothing to do with me being a moderator I am just another poster like you. What I have objected to is the personal attacks. This is where we draw the line. This is a great forum and I hope you continue to put your views all we ask is that you do so in a respectful manner. You and I have got off on the wrong foot, I am glad you are offering to tone it down let's remember why we are here and enjoy it.
Despite this (alleged) lack of creativity and threat, we apparently mustered more shots (by quite a few) against Stoke than Citeh did against Reading, now apparently Citeh are better than us and Stoke are better than Reading - so it can't be so bad can it? On another day one or more of those shots would have gone in and maybe we'd have got a pen, maybe N'Zonzi would have been sent off. As for saying we'd get 6th (was it Sidney?) can you then say which teams are better than us? After the Manchesters and (arguably but not certainly) Chelski, that's two more teams who are apparently going to do better and I would say that is by no means certain. I'd say we would be fighting Arsenal for 4th, and I cannot see Everton or WBA challenging over the course of a whole season, but if there are five teams better which ones are they and why?
Are you sure about those stats Vimhawk ?? City supposedly had 21 shots yesterdayand we had 22. Whatever, this flimsy excuse of "on another day", is nothing more than that, an excuse. People were using this argument after the Newcastle, WBA, Norwich and Wigan games to name a few. The fact is we drew the game 0-0, one or more of those shots did not go in and we didn't get a penalty.
Spurcat - point taken, I got the stats from the BBC just after the match yesterday, I guess they might have amended them. Would argue about "the fact is" because the facts are too often written by those with the ref on their side!
I think we might do better if Ade was in the box when the crosses come in ,not out on the wing doing the crossing, thats Bale and Lennon's job which they do well, his,as part of a two man strike team,is to stick the ball in the net, which he can't do if he is'nt there
The players injured who we repeatedly keep seeing thrown up as an excuse still...are defenders and a DM, they will add nothing to our lack of attacking prowess. The fact remains we do not play our players to their strengths. Another fact remains the best football I've seen Spurs play in recent times was provided by a manager who is not the current one, and anyone who thinks otherwise is talking out there arse. For the record I agree he may not have been the best bloke to go forward, and I think its time we accept this subject will always have wide opinion.
Disagree notso, I think Benny makes a big contribution to our forward play, particularly with his link up with Bale. Parker does a lot more than just defend and Kaboul too makes forward runs sometime of great power. That's without mentioning the effect of a solid defence on the mind set of the team. Apart from that, yes there is wide opinion as you so tactfully put it. However should AVB succeed, trophy wise or league wise then this debate will fade from view.
And I disagree with your disagreement , Kab, Benny, and Parker will not be playing that throughball thats missing, ok they'll shore the defence up, but their effect on whats going on (or not as the case is!) in the final third is negligible.
Not forgetting that the previous manager in his early days often player Modric and VDV in positions that were not to their best advantage. He played Bale at left back and thought that was his best position. He needed time to work out how to set the team up to it's best advantage as does the present manager. Little difference atm and time will tell how the present manager turns out.
That is certainly true and we looked absolutely great for the first half of last season and in many games during the CL run. But to expect any manager (including Redknapp if he had stayed) to immediately achieve the same quality with seven changes in the first XI and eleven new players in the squad is asking for miracles.
