Lol Spurly getting bare desperate to make it sound like Richarlison ain’t on course to be a bigger flop than Ndombele.
The only way you'd get Ndombele to put in the same effort as Richarlison is in a race for a burger. Talented player. Lazy fat bastard.
...who is on course to win a league trophy this season Looking forward to the comps of all those 86th minute sub appearances against opponents who are trailing 2-0...
They're on a winning run of 8 league games and he's come on in all of them. Played a total of 78 minutes in that time! Probably still came off knackered.
The fact he didn’t put in any effort and still arguably done more in his first season over Richarlison so far highlights the issue we have with the Brazilian.
But that’s still pretty much more than Richarlison. Richarlison works hard and that’s admirable but it’s also an expectation. Davies, Emerson, Romero, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Skipp etc also graft their arses off. We’re still waiting to see just what it is Richarlison can bring and so far it’s next to nothing - which is more or less what a number of us expected before he signed.
I think that's down to our overall lack of creativity. It's not like he's missing sitters. We had three shots on target against Chelsea and only eight in total. That's one of our better performances, too. Our midfield is a bunch of very hardworking box-to-box players. Kane's been playing too high, Kulusevski's crocked and Son's disappeared. Perisic has a bunch of assists, but nearly all of them are from set-pieces. He normally scores quite a few himself, but he's not had the service either. If everyone else was doing fine, then I'd understand the criticism. As it is I'm more inclined to blame the management and system than the players.
He fluffed two chances against West Ham, one of them especially he should’ve done far better with and contributed to one of those wayward shots against Chelsea as he tried shooting from outside the box and it went closer to the corner flag than the goal. His overall play isn’t impressive either. Kane, Son and Kulusevski are all capable of individual brilliance without reliance on other players, that’s largely how we’ve managed to be so efficient up top in recent years despite a lack of creativity from midfield or WB/ FB, Richarlison is incapable of that, only way he likely scores is from a cross or through ball. Skipp has managed to score a league goal in less time on the pitch than Richarlison this season too. Emerson has also shown more goal threat in recent games, finishing like a striker against West Ham. I feared he’d be a monumental waste of money and I’ve yet to barely see anything to change my mind. Unless something drastically changes we’re almost certainly going down the Ndombele/ Lo Celso route with Richarlison and what’s worse with this one is that many knew beforehand he wouldn’t live up to the price tag nor bring anything we didn’t already have, the other two at least came with the element of hope and unknown.
Ndombele scored on his league debut didn’t he. 1st Mar and Richarlison is level with all of us for league goals for Spurs Buying him for big bucks and then not having enough money to get in a top quality centre back is not good from Spurs
Sanchez played very well in the last round so deserves to start. Not at all sure why Lucas starts ahead of Danjuma. No complaints otherwise. We have two really tough fixtures coming up away to a resurgent Wolves then the Milan game, so rotation is v important.
Lol, Danjuma 100% regrets doing that u-turn on the Everton move, what a waste of a 6 months this is gonna be for the guy.
Danjuma has barely ever played as a right-winger and the last time he did was about 2 years ago. It does bring into question when he's going to get any significant game time, though. Perhaps as a sub today at some point and then go from there?
