I don't disagree with anything he said there, barring the workrate bit at the end. I rarely see any of our players failing to put a shift in under Conte. Doesn't mean that they play well, individually or as a team, but I don't doubt the effort.
Me neither. Tis the presentation ( "damn with faint praise" , attempted snide digs) that is classic bbc606 LDL. KH has suggested the reason for it, and I have given a warning (there may be a "bookmarked" event come season end ) .
Which specific season(s) of on-pitch performance do you contend that this remuneration mainly relates to ?? And if those seasons are a few years back (2018-19 etc) , have they already been covered by similar sized remunerations in previous financial years ??
I have not looked at the details but usually base salary is linked to similar roles elsewhere and bonus to achieving stretch targets. For the former, there are almost no similar roles because most clubs seem to have a non-executive chair and a chief executive and Levy is effectively doing both roles. I would contend that the job gets more difficult each year though so it's not surprising his salary goes up. His biggest bonus was for the stadium build, I think.
