I'd be tempted to take Davies off as well. Their RW is skinning him every time. Plus Davies keeps trying to pass out from the back which isn't wise against a team pressing high up the pitch
Agree wholeheartedly with this. I hate it when we play like this. We need to change it and I agree Adebayor needs to come off. We have created only one real chance from open play and that was a long ball over the top. There has been no guile at all it's all so boring and predictable.
League One is the most competitive division. There is little to choose between any of the teams. Bristol City, Swindon and MK Dons carry a few more goal threats, but all the teams are very organised, compact and well drilled. To beat them you need to quicken the tempo and inject a bit of pace with players running in behind. They can defend all day when the ball is passed around in front of them.
Ugh, this Sky Sports commentator is as bad as Andy Townsend, total nonsense throughout even trying to claim Adebayor should've been sent off Credit to Sheffield United, we usually start quickly in our games but they put us on the back foot from the start. We got to grips with it in the end and started to take some control after about 20 or so minutes but they still look dangerous. Davies is having an awful time against Campbell-Rice but he isn't getting much help either. Mason's not having a good game and Adebayor looks like a player that hasn't started a game in over 2 months, although he did have a couple of good moments as the half went on. Hopefully we'll come out better in the second half, I don't expect any changes but I'd take Adebayor off for Paulinho, Kane's better at bringing other players into the game from up top and Paulinho is a better threat in the box, in my opinion.
We have to match their effort first and then our quality should show through. I would put on Lennon and Dembele for Adebayor and Mason.
Nearly an hour gone without creating a meaningful chance from open play. It really annoys me when we play like this.
We have been slower than them, less creative than them, less committed than them, less accurate in our passing and generally piss-poor in all departments. Ade looks like a player with virtually no match fitness whatsoever which he is. Davis is getting torn a new one and Mason and Stambouli are totally sideways and ineffective. One step forwards and 3 steps backwards once again...... But at least it's still 0-0!!
How did Whispering Bob Harris get away with that one? Cheers as Adebayor's number goes up and boos as he goes off. Not good.
Thor is going to have a field day on this one going on by how many goals he thought we should have beaten Sunderland by! I'd be happy to take any lead into next week at the moment!!
Actually I said in the first half to myself let's get a penalty because it didn't look like we were going to score by any other method. We've done a Chelsea.
The last 10-15 mins have been one way traffic. They have 10 behind the ball most of the time - it ain't so easy to break that down...
As if it's not stressful enough already watching Tottenham play, we then let Townsend take the penalty
I remember Jose Baxter when he was emerging at Everton. He was hailed as a big talent. Wonder why he didn't make it there?
Our corner quadrants are looking very tatty, aren't they? Yep, that's how bad this performance has been!
