I did say "not being nasty" <laugh>

Seriously, a result against Madrid at any time is good, in the CL it's something rare and a bit special.

So have we. We've scored more and conceded less, though.

Madrid have met their 2017-18 PL counterpart.
However, in the CL, being defending champions
and drawing Spurs in the group stage ...

I'd love it if, just once, a pundit actually praised Kane for keeping his head down and being loyal to the club, rather than this constant, "If I were Kane. I'd be knocking on the chairman's door for more money" rhetoric.

I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve parity, but why do these fools think that Levy is building a new stadium if not in part to raise the financial levels of the club in comparison to the biggest clubs in Europe?

This lack of patience and ruthless materialism being promoted within the media is bordering on sick IMHO.

I'd understand slightly more if we were in the early stage of the stadium season, but even then it's a bit crass.

Maybe if this humility at this level was celebrated more in mainstream culture, we'd have more well-rounded players. They do it for the likes of Troy Deeney, but when it's a 'world-class' player, whatever that means, they get all money centric. Have they no shame?

What a great team effort. Does anyone defend better than we do? Look at the quality we have in Lloris, Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Sanchez. Credit to Pochettiino for realizing we could be very effective sitting back against the very best teams.

  8. Very impressed with Llorente last night. Showed his class and experience despite having had feck-all game time since he joined us. He linked play really well and would be tempted to keep him in for Sunday.
Some great business was done in the last transfer window. Hats off to Poch and Levy <cheers>

I know northerns who live in Surrey don't read the classics but there is a quote from the French Philosopher Descartes that is quite apt.

"Wind yer neck in bitch and lets us enjoy this warm glow"

You should try reading the classics you could then come out with the classy stuff I do.

It was a good result, especially given Real Madrid's dominance in midfield.
The very best teams are so good are keeping and then distributing the ball.
Spurs are used to 65-70% possession in games, but you got half that last night. It's a different game when your opponents have so much of the ball and have players who can exploit that.
Dortmund's result means that the result of the return game against Real Madrid isn't so important. A win "at home" to Apoel is all that's needed to qualify - in fact one more point will probably do it.

    What a performance!

All the lads done us proud. Hugo showed why he's up there with Neuer, de Gea, Buffon etc, the defence put in a shift and a half, Sissoko never stopped running, Llorente battled like a lion and should've had two assists as well as a penalty, just an all around top display from the lads.

Huge shout out to Poch and his staff as well, to go to the best team in world football with a fairly depleted side and come away with a point is insanely good management. There was a rumour that he said he'd sign a 15 year contract with us - Levy, get it done!

    COYS!

Hola de Madrid! It's proper wet here today, so booking a hotel with a roof terrace and swimming pool was a complete waste of money.

Eventually got to bed about 4.30 this morning. All day yesterday we had cocky ****s telling us how we were going to lose by 4 or 5. Today, nobody wants to talk football to us. I'm wearing a Spurs shirt that seems to make me invisible.

Back to Valencia this afternoon and flying home tonight a very proud Spur.

My thoughts today are that Sissoko is turning into a
valuable squad player. What he and Pochettino need
to get into his head is as far as his contribution goes,
he can and should be much more than that for Spurs.

That isn't quite right. If we lose our next two games then we would likely be going into the final game six points behind Real and level with Dortmund and we would be relying on Real performing against Dortmund when they have already clinched first place. Drawing the home game against Real means that we qualify by beating Apoel whatever happens in Dortmund's other games.

I'm not even envious of you one bit... Not one bit :emoticon-0120-doh:.

On the bright side, or hopefully bright side, I'll be experiencing similar or even better joy when I travel to Dortmund in a few weeks!

Maybe that's why his wife left him. Couldn't listen to his ****ty punditry anymore. Was probably doing the same at home with negative punditry regarding her.

Our Jamie has now moved on to trying to offer
Pochettino to clubs other than Spurs.

Cannot be long before he is saying that Levy
could be chairman of any of the big clubs.

He just cannot stand seeing Spurs doing so well since his dad was given the boot. It's so obvious.
