3-0 FT. Very good first half, but a much more subdued second period. Norwich upped their game drastically and I think that we lacked a little bit in closing down, due to Alli's removal. Have to be happy with that result, but there were a few lessons to be learned, I thought.
Good work. Dodgy second half, but above Arsenal now. Just have to keep matching their results to keep them below us thanks to our goal difference. When was the last time we had a superior GD to them?
3-0 wasn't a fair scoreline and I don't think we were very good value for the cleansheet but we got it and are only the second side to do that at Carrow Road this season. Puts us above Arsenal so a good day
I know what you mean, but they didn't really test Lloris. We didn't look that solid at times, but the centre-half pairing's pretty new.
And then gets unnecessarily involved. Best thing about it was seeing Dier prevent Rose from continuing it in the area before the freekick was taken. Real professionalism from ED (something that Rose could learn from!) - think he is a captain in the making. 3 lovely points but the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half were a bit concerning. Kane looked on fire from the first minute: great touches all over the park, great pen, calm finish for his 2nd and unlucky not to bag another couple. Get that cotton-wool out!!
Spot on evening. Great first half and although we stepped off the gas in the second half we still managed to largely contain Norwich and threaten on the counter - by the end the game plan was very much to hit Kane on the break as soon as we recovered the ball and it worked a number of times. I actually thought we were good value for the clean sheet too, we had a couple of dodgy moments but the officials made the correct calls re. offsides and fouls IMO. My MOTM would be Kane for the 2 goals (could have had a hat-trick or more), creative effort, and never giving Norwich a break from beginning to end. On the CB pairing, Verts and Toby took a few games to bed in at the start of the season, so I'm optimistic that Toby and Wimmer will be able to cope once they're used to each other. Wimmer isn't quite as good as Verts but he's certainly not a bad backup by any means. We play a solid setup with Dier in midfield too so I'm optimistic that we will be able to cope, especially if we keep scoring.
True but for me, if ours is a pen so was theirs in the first half. Hit the back of the net too, even if it was offside. Not convinved by Wimmer at all tonight. It's understandable that there's going to be a learning curve, I just worry that we can't afford to have that at the moment.
"Not convinved by Wimmer at all tonight. It's understandable that there's going to be a learning curve, I worry that we can't afford to have that at the moment." It ends after FT against Watford. Cos the next game is in Aguero town.
Good result, and it's got me looking at the fixtures on BBC. Not sure if it's been said elsewhere, but Fiorentina away on Thursday night and then Palace on Saturday 3pm is a bit of an ask.
In terms of immediate fixture congestion its looking just about manageable too. Premier League Tottenham v Watford - full strength team Sat 6 Feb 15:00 Premier League Man City v Tottenham - full strength team, with a key 8 day rest here too Sun 14 Feb 16:15 Europa League - Round of 32 Fiorentina v Tottenham - honestly I think with where we are in the league this is 3rd priority now. For the away leg play an entirely 2nd string side set up to counter. I don't want to even see Kane near the plane Thu 18 Feb 18:00 FA Cup - Fifth Round Tottenham v Crystal Palace - full strength team, with minimal/no travellers from the Fiorentina game. We can't afford a replay of this Sat 20 Feb 15:00 Europa League - Round of 32 Tottenham v Fiorentina - whatever is needed to win the tie at this stage, hopefully we have an away goal or 2 in the bag Thu 25 Feb 20:05 Premier League Tottenham v Swansea - consolidation game, who knows what kind of a state Swansea will be in by here Sun 28 Feb 14:05 With luck we might be able to avoid replays and excessive playing time in the EL, and arrive into March for West Ham and the NLD having played nearly 2 games a week, but still reasonably fresh. Glad we have the return leg second for the EL as we can try and counter attack our way into an away goal or 2 in the first game, and then pick them off as they come to us at the Lane. Apart from that we just have to hope that International friendlies don't throw us any unpleasant curveballs in March. That 8 day rest in a week or so before City might prove a godsend as a resting period too.
