this. I think we have a better chance of "clicking" as a team in this match than they do, we are further ahead of the curve than them in this respect IMO, the "missing" bit for us is bringing RVW more into the game and getting the midfield to recognise and anticipate his runs. Spurs have weaknesses too which if CH has done his homework we have the players to exploit, walker in particular isnt playing great right now, had a shocker against Ukraine too.
Match interviews today? Will be good to confirm we have a clean bill of health from the internationals.
And the posters who think CH hasn't got a mind of his own will be able to point to it and say "He set us up against Spurs as Billy told him to"
Just to clear it up I don't want us to set up defensively as a team in general. The only thought I had was if we attack with too many numbers it could give space for the way spurs are playing and they've scored less goals than us so far this season so why not annoy them and try and keep them contained. I can see the other side of the argument as well and that could easily work, I just think away from home against a good side attacking successfully would be harder than containing and letting them make a mistake as the home pressure is on them. Hopefully in the future we can attack every game and come out successfully more often than not.
I'm not actually advocating attacking every game, or even most games just that for this match there are weaknesses in the Spurs team that we have the players to exploit. I just have this lingering feeling that this could be one of those memorable matches.....
I love the "I'm glad Hughton has taken my advise"ers. It's either that or saying the players overruled him. Really weird attitudes towards our manager
I agree Billy, against the bigger teams we need to play a bit more defensively, not just Spurs but Man City, Chelsea and co. I'd say against sides that are more bottom/mid table such as Stoke, Fulham, Newcastle, West Ham, Sunderland etc we can attack more.
If this is true then they have not scored from open play in three matches, given that they have only scored twice. Let,s keep it that way.
redmond could potentially give walker something to think about on saturday, let's hope so edit, Snap Beef
Like GPB, that's what I took you to be saying too Billy, talking about this game in particular, not away games in general. Be interesting to see how we actually approach the game.
Just to clarify Billy I was only being mischievous and know exactly what you mean. I also concur by the way.
hughton has been cautious with bringing players back so i'm not getting my hopes up that he will be in the squad for sat
