Full game is coming, very slowly. I'll try and get it uploaded tonight, but it'll probably be tomorrow.

bit too early to say I told you so, as like season predictions, they are being changed each game and Rose looked good against weak unadventurous opposition.

Ekotto had many games where he looked class but made errors in others, so lets see how Rose does over the season before anyone can say he's better then Benny.

Our lot are all moaning about the performance.I think that is a bit unfair on Spurs,it was excellent play. You look top four easily.

    Just watched the Rose interview.
It would appear that talking about the squad (competition, rotation etc) is the
"on message" PR facade AVB expects from the players this season.

Thanks. Yeah, I like to think that we were just too much for you. You're in a similar boat to us in that the attack has been overhauled over the summer. It doesn't make for an excuse but it does mean that you should expect inconsistency in the early stages. We were fortunate that Eriksen was able to come in and play like he'd been us for 3 years rather than 3 days of training, you couldn't have blamed him if he did struggle so I think we were fortunate in that aspect.

It sounds like it's stating the obvious, and it probably is, but when you make significant changes then the early part of the season is about just hoping to pick up as many points as possible. Judge the manager and the team that he's built at the end of the season as it would be unfair to draw any conclusions about which way the team is headed before then. Look at Villa last season, they had a new manager bringing in a new style with new players, whether they were signings or youngsters being promoted to the first team, and they took several heavy losses but by the end of the season they were causing every team problems. It's not easy as fans but I think at times we just have to be prepared to sit and wait, give the team plenty of time to get themselves sorted and then start judging them.

Anyway you've taken enough points off us lately so you can't complain about us finally beating you :D

  12. That was a really professional appointment against spirited, but limited opposition.
Eriksen was superb, Paulinho dominant in all areas and Vertonghen back to his best. Really pleased for Sigs: worked hard and deserved his goals.
Rose certainly had his best ever game for Spurs and hopefully he will maintain this standard, but rather early to be lauding his performance too much: he is going to face rather tougher opposition almost every other week in the PL and it is against the top teams that he needs to show he can cut it.
Lloris had a decent game and was no doubt glad to have an easy afternoon after the tribulations of last week and a generally less than positive start to the season.
Townsend needs to start playing more for the team than trying to prove himself. Not yet convinced...... and Lennon should be fit soon.
Dembele had a much stronger game, but still seems to drift through matches without having any major impact.
Walker is playing better than last year but still makes too many wrong decisions - whether it be positional or passing options. I think playing Kaboul at RB for a few games would benefit both of them and the team.
Soldado made some great runs into space and linked play well at times. Needs a PL goal from open play to get going - was surprised it was Sigs and not him that ended up at the back post for the 2nd goal, although he does seem to prefer the dart across the box to the near post.
Great to see Sandro appear again and fit in seamlessly.
Maybe a bit surprised not to see 15-20 mins of Lamela rather than 8, but as mentioned he spent most of the week travelling (though not playing) and I vaguely remember someone mentioning that the club now run such extensive medical tests on the players fitness that they can determine exactly how long they should participate. He looked very comfortable when he came on (as he should for £30m) and will surely get a full run out in Thursday.

Overall a decent result and another win, so life is good.

I've seen several people say Dembele had a good game yesterday. As with all his other games, I just don't get it personally.

I think it suited him having Eriksen taken on the bulk of the playmaking which meant that he could stay in his comfort zone for most of the game, breaking up attacks, playing simple balls and making runs forward at times when it suited him.

I thought he had a good game to be honest, I think not feeling like he had to create chances actually meant that when he did get forward he played a bit freer and as a result even created a couple of chances. Not a stand out performance compared to the rest of the team but I think you'd be very stingy to acknowledge that he played well yesterday.

Dembele needs to doing more of those driving runs.
As long as someone in CM or up front make themselves available
    for a pass.

Not one mention of the win falling on Yom Kippur. Not even from David Baddiel...

Hi Notso, I did know that actually but just lately I haven't been getting the match running behind the ads. I couldn't click any icon yesterday because a thick white bar covered it so I had an ad in the middle & a bar underneath! No amount of hovering revealed an X. Thanks for trying. Do you remember, some time ago, you & I downloading Sopcast to step by step instructions from Spurf? Those were the days, I was ok with sopcast. Thank goodness Thursday is on telly!

In hindsight, its now my opinion that AVB has yet to recognize the full importance of the North London Derby, in terms of what it means to the fans. The lack of motivation and passion might well of been key issues at the Emerites, the other week but, yesterdays performance was full of both.. well at least for 65mins.

Make no mistake, yesterdays showing ranks as one of the best from a AVB team, here at the lane IMHO. However 'one swallow does not a Summer make'. It remains to be seen if Spurs can make further improvement as a team. However yesterdays performance goes some way to alleviate the early season disappointments.
