We need an official sliding scale of Spurs badness so we can compare. Something like... Chiriches Hutton Postiga Paulinho Doherty Fazio Bentley Naughton Sherwood Davenport Taarabt Rasiak Gardner Boateng Atouba Booth Ian Walker Nethercott Thatcher Dozzell Mabizela Rocha Thelwell Khumalo Vega Gilberto Tramezzani
Vorm only had two things to do, and he did them well. Certainly cannot complain about that. I thought it was a solid performance from everyone apart from Llorente. He's the only one who didn't do his job. We had 90% of the possession ffs! it's not the fault of the other lads on the park if our centre forward cannot even hit the target! He's our Bendtner.
Glad to see coco back he looked up for this game and his vision and one touch football you just can't coach that either you have got it or you'll never get it .
Not having that! Pav was far from perfect, but he got some cracking, important goals for us. And Solly deserves to be excluded from the Hall of Shame if only for his continuing positivity towards the club. Poor ****er has scored for fun at every other club he’s played for.........
I suppose I have a blind spot where Bendtner is concerned. That night when he tripped up over his own bootlaces taking, what would have been, Arsenal's only shot on goal against Barca, and English football was dragged through the mire (yet again), and we were all soiled by the debacle, I can remember only the worst, Spuddy.
True. I remember being at a pre-season friendly, when Harry was in charge, against Bournemouth, and Pav scored a goal with the most sublime chip I have ever seen! I was there with my eldest, and I remember saying to him, "Hello! Pav's going to be on fire this season!" I should have been shot for saying that.
Good game and we're through. Glad Newport didn't get thumped, they've played well over both games and deserved not to be on the end of an 8-1. Not looking forward to our players at Rochdale having seen their pitch. Looks like they've been hosting the circus there.
So I guess in twenty years we can look forward to Llorente finding excuses to stick the boot into Chelsea as a pundit then? Also, weren't we supposed to have some sort of hoodoo at Wembley?
Didn't have a clue we were doing quite that well at Wembley. If playing at this pile does anything, hopefully it will set us up well to start better at the new stadium.
Apparently, so the pundits say, us having got used to the space at Wembley has set us up for a superb away performance at the larger grounds, too.
After the performance tonight, there are some players I am now really looking forward to see playing there.
Just got home from the game. Lamela and Son superb throughout. Terrible opening 15 mins but Newport's main tactic was basically to run around like crazy at all times and on a pitch as big as Wembley's it's not surprising they started to run out of puff early on. Could've and should've been a cricket score by the end of it - biggest cheer of the night was for Coco's first goal in about 9 years. Llorente is living proof that we are haunted by a strikers' curse. There is no way a player with a 13 year trophy laden career can go to **** so quickly without some serious voodoo at work behind the scenes. Onwards to the Woolwich on saturday. We are starting to look very much at home at Wembley, even if the atmosphere sucks.
