Totally agee with that. I suspect we will end up around 12th or 13th and I've already written off any chance of a European place via league standings...
That is effectively linear extrapolation of current form (the coarsest prediction possible) . And therefore the boot (even 58 pts will probably be failure) .
The first half of the season resulted in 24 points. I don’t see things improving much (if at all) in the second half of the season for multiple reasons. 26 points from 18 games would take Spurs to 50 points. Right now I’d snap your hand off for that and a secure mid table finish.
Yup, unfortunately we are not necessarily an attractive proposition at present so attracting "oven ready" quality will not be easy.
I don't know why people are criticising Postecoglou's post-match reaction. He's entitled to slag off that ludicrous ****show. He should've been doing it earlier. His attempts to be reasonable about the officials backfired, rather unsurprisingly. That 2nd half really can't be blamed on Michael Oliver's mates, though. Not directly, anyway. The rules need to be changed because you can't offer opportunities to cheats, as they'll use them. Chronic timewasting and feigning of injuries has become standard behaviour for a number of teams. Both need to be clamped down on by rules changes, even just from a business point of view. Nobody wants to watch some twat lying on the ground for five minutes. It's not entertaining.
He obviously just wasn't aware of the rules and went all in. The fact is you lost fair and square. If anything Newcastle should probably have been given a penalty, but I suspect the referee was too afraid to award it because of all the abuse he was getting from a collection of staff and players that didn't know the rules. Whether we agree with the rule or want common sense to be used is another matter, however the rules are the rules and you can't ask for special treatment.
It's completely ambiguous and deliberately so. Joelinton handballed it. Burn handballed it to stop a counter when already on a yellow. Both should've been off within the first 25 minutes.
So you want the rules changed to suit your emotional decision. You cry for that while at the same time dismiss Gordon's penalty claim. Tottenham lost fair and square over 102 minutes and the stat's indicate a close game, so I would like to offer my condolences on that part.
It's a deliberate handball. Joelinton moves his arm towards the ball and hits it. I haven't even discussed Gordon's penalty claim because it's irrelevant. You should've been down to 9 men and losing after 25 minutes. What concord nose did in the 2nd half doesn't matter.
These emotional views are extreme, so there's no point in expecting a reasonable debate. Good luck in the match vs Liverpool.
There's nothing emotional about it. The ref was just ****. He's always ****. His brother was ****, too.
There is that's how the human mind makes all it's decisions. First you make a decision then look for evidence to back it up. This may have escaped you, but I actually don't agree with the rule and was shocked it was given, but later established the rule. The other incidents including the Gordon penalty are all open to debate, but not our first goal.
@PleaseNotPoll - you’ve fallen into the trap Munse set. He’s evolved in 2025 to a more subtle type of WUM. Kinda reminds me of Luke’s approach.
It's a straightforward handball which Gallagher and pals have tried to turn into something else. If Madley gives it immediately on the pitch then nobody would've mentioned it. It would've been forgotten. He ****s up, beaky scores and VAR won't overturn the onfield decision, so Gallagher gets wheeled out with excuses. They can't even pretend that Burn shouldn't have been sent off, though. There's no discussion of Joelinton's overall behaviour, which should've seen him join him. Must've been during that long period when Newcastle couldn't win a game and I thought he'd died.
You have simply convinced yourself Joelinton has the reaction speed of a feline being and that every foul is worthy of a yellow card which unfortunately isn't the case. The problem you've got now is that I've watched you burrow yourself into these views like a tick and I'm going to pick you apart over the coming months, years and beyond. Anyway in all seriousness I can't be any more reasonable in saying I don't agree with the rule allowing that goal, but common sense can't be used in today's game.
It all makes sense when you know what the officials are doing. I've said this on here before, but they're no longer refereeing a game, they're managing an event. That's not my opinion, it's what they've been told to do.
